You need to unplug your modem for 20-30 seconds each time before connecting. And the same thing when you go back to using your computer. This could be the problem if your just switching back and forth and not using a hub or anything..

Have you only tried to test the network connection? I've seen that test fail but I could still get on the socom servers. If all you've tried is the test, try socom...it can't hurt.

Words of encouragement though.....I've set up socom online at about 8-10 different locations and its NEVER gone smoothly, theres always something that doesn't get along or something but in the end,I've got them ALL working so don't give up,its just bein a pain.

When you say "unplug the modem" do you mean to remove the power adaptor cable from the cable modem? If so...20-30 seconds is unnecessary, just pull it out and plug it back in which resets the modem.

EDIT: of course AFTER I post I noticed you said a few seconds....I've seen 20-30 second like 4 places on here while reading old stuff the last couple days and I just got confused,my bad.

When i said unplug the modem it meant remove the power from it like you could unplug your TV...

ya......... I find that I have to do this at times and I have a router too. Its a pretty simple fix....... unplug the power cord for a few seconds and plug it back in... do NOT push the standby button... as it does NOT work the same..... and as for using the slim ps2.... no that has no bearing on it... but if U R gonna play socom2... and get addicted to it as I did... why the H3LL would U want the slim ps2 when there is no hard drive... and as far as $ony sez...there are no plans for a hard drive for it in the near future... U need a hard drive that is doctored or an official $ony HDD to download the new maps for socom2......... ENJOY YOUR SOCOM2 EXPERIENCE
