Dialing on the cord
i have just discovered that the online adapter does not come with the ethernet cable. do i have to buy the ethernet cable? or can i just use a phone cord?

and, ive been quite confused on this, and ive read a few posts that still didnt help me. can i just plug into a phone or internet jack in the wall?
because im planning on splitting from my modem down to my PS2, but first i have to buy a bunch of junk.

to rap it up, can i use a regular phone cord and plug it right in the wall?

No, that would be running via phone a.k.a. dial-up, which will not work with SOCOM II ONLINE.

You need to buy an ethernet cord (If you don't know what it looks like, it is like a big phone jack. It will plug into the slot in the top right of the network adaptor). It would help to have a splitter so that you can use the internet with you PS2 and computer at the same time. When you set up the network config and stuff, make sure that you have your MAC address and a bunch of other numbers handy. You can find you MAC address by pressing Triangle in the main menu.

you CAN play socom 2 online right now... ehres what you need to do.

1) take the ethernet cable from the back of your computer out of your NIC and plug it into the correct slot in the back of the online adapter.

2) Turn your modem on, then reboot your modem. To reboot your modem, just simply go to the power cord running to your modem and unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in.

3) wait for your modem to turn back on and make sure its on, then turn on your PS2.

4) Set up your network configuration. (differs with each ISP)

5) connect to SOCOM 2 online.
*IMPORTANT* if you dont connect the fist time, dont be discouraged. its just booting your modem basically so try a second time and if needed, a third time. it should work then, and if it doesnt, then you have made a mistake in one of the above steps.

ok, well mobscene...i dont wuite understand number one. is there an ehternet cable connected to my computer from my modem? if so, what i am wanting to do...is split where the cord comes out...and rund a cord to my ps2.

and as i was just looking to buy an ethernet cord...they arent just for ps2 are they, but all the sites ive been on say that i can just use a phone cord to connect my adapter.

now i understand that i cant just use dial up. so i have to use a modem or something right. well thats what ive got, so i'll use that. but thanks for explainin the rest of...im just a bit confused on #1.

AGH its so slightly confusing
EDIT: i now know what an ethernet cord is...but does it have to be an ethernet cable in my adapter? can it not be a phone cord? cuz i dont think my ethernet cable is long enough...my modem is one floor straight above my ps2.

Ethernet > Phone Cord

Therefore the ethernet will not fit into a phone socket.
