i have internet through the cable company and for the past 7 months i have been switching the ethernet cord back and forth from the computer to the playstation.
my question is, is it possible to just go out and buy another cable modem and hook it up to a different cable line. meaning, i wouldnt have to switch the cord anymore becauase i would have 1 modem for the computer and one for the playstation or do i have to have a router?
i am confused to why a router is better? the reason i am asking this question is because i am moving and i am not sure if the playstation will be close to my computer. meaning, i dont want to set up my router and run a line through the house. i'd rather just splice the cable line to the tv and hook up a seperate modem
there is always the wireless option. If that works for you. I now see why you might want a second modem, I might suggest calling your cable company. (I said this before )
yeah, i looked at wireless to but i dont want to install the wireless card to my computer, i only use my computer for work and i dont want to mess with it. plus, wireless will be more expensice than just buying a modem.
why would i call the cable company? this should be no different than having cable television hooked up to more than one tv
