Teamwork and your views on it.
After posting a in a thread named Jaguar, a brilliant idea popped in my mind. This thread is nothing like the others floating around, going nowhere.

In a perfect world, everyone would be just like me

In a perfect world and a perfect game, we would have perfect teamwork. By your definition, what describes a great team and what is needed to enfuse the words into the title "TEAMWORK".

I have many views, but would rather hear what you have to say before posting my comments.

PS-This topic, I am hoping, is to be restricted to Mature comments. (Although I cannot do much if it goes off-topic) I want to see if the members of this forum will enjoy reading information about this topic, and not drown through garbage. So in terms suited for a 4-year-old, cheeselover and >Pyro< are banned from posting in this topic unless it is a very mature (SPELL CHECK AND GRAMMAR CHECK IT!) and thoughtful comment.

The element of teamwork is what wins the game. It's kind of like the Yankees in MLB- they have a team full of All-Stars, but that doesn't mean you will win anything. It is the same in SOCOM. You can put a team together full of the top 8 players in the game, and still not win a single round. Individual skill means nothing when playing 8v8, if the other team functions as one.

Take Liquid Zero for example (if you don't know who they are, they're the top ranked clan on Gamebattles), and say half of their clan quit. So, they go and recruit some really good players, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will win. You can go put a clan that's ranked 973 with a record of 3-6 against them, and they might win, if they have the skill as a clan to do so.

The first time I helped start up a clan that was going to be made up of ex-top 50 clan members, that was when I learned a LOT about teamwork. The leader was always on my back about my teamwork skills, or lack thereof.

The clan that I am currently in, however, I have played with the members for ages on this game- since I got the game. We just function well as a team, and if it wasn't for a bit of lag that cost us the war, we would be 10-1, losing our first war back together as a clan.

I think teamwork is a thing that just comes naturally to someone after playing with the same people...at least that's how it was for me. If I ever joined another clan, it would be difficult for me to adjust to the new playing styles.

About teamwork . . . I think 90% of it is communication. And I don't mean communcation like,"Hey what's up, I did this today and school/work sucked and so on and so on." Save that for when you are dead or in the lobby. The other 10% is personal achievments.

I haven't really played too many games, other than with my clan, where people check off and let everyone know where they are going and what they are doing, so that if they die . . . everyone knows where everyone else is at on the map. There are a couple maps where teamwork aren't that important (I think), such as the supression maps. On other maps where each team has an objective, teamwork is crucial. Usually, I like to break it down into individual goals, such as you have someone spot for enemies, a 2-3 person fire team, a 2 person team to work towards the goal such as get the bomb, watch the VIPs, escort, rescue, whatever. Then the last two kinda kick back to make sure that no one get's crept up on.

That's just my two cents. Whenever I play in other rooms . . . I don't like telling people what to do or to talk on the mic, so I just try to tell everyone what I'm doing and usually by the 4-5th round it kinda catches on. I never like to be lone gunning it, I believe in the "buddy system" . . . it works and you live longer when you have one watching your back and vice versa.

If anyone had actually read my first few posts you would see how I feel about teamwork.

I don't know how many times I have harped on this subject on this forum and in the game.

I don't think the average player thinks about this. That is why I like playing with the people in this forum. Almost everyone here is a big advocator of teamwork.

I know that I am not the best player in this game, and I probably don't actually deserve to ever get my wings. However, I can be more useful than any Captain as a support agent.

The guys that watch your back and take a bullet for you so that you can plant the bomb, or rescue that VIP are just as important as the guys who go 21-3.

I just hope more people start realizing this.

Word . . . you know what? I don't think I've ever played with anyone from the forums before, but I'd like to. Anyways, I'm usually on around 9-10pm PST. Usually in West5. Look me up if you want to add me to your friends lists. My name is the same as this account. Hope to play with some of you guys/gals sometime.

Teamwork.

Its a funny thing. I believe communication is a major as well. Take for example you see an enemy heading towards a teammate. You can either A) Tell the teammate to check his six or B) Follow the guy and hopefully kill him before he kills your teammate.

In this situation it is not always possible obviously to give a heads up (you might be attacked or maybe the mic is in use)
But a lot of people will try to tail the guy just to get a kill. THAT is not teamwork and yet it happens so much. I myself am guilty of it sometimes but I generally prefer to holla at my boy than risk his death and quite possibly mine.

Taking a bullet for the sake of a bomb plant, ridin' in pairs, playing for the team and not just yourself - hell just HAVING your bro's fu<king back - that is what the true nature of this game is.

A lot of times when I play with my clanmates it seems like a bloody scrimmage - nobody really planning anything just rushing in and hopefully winning. I dislike that but I realize my clan is more about friendship and good times than serious strategy and blame placement (funny!)

Anyone agree?

so fu<king true when it comes to being a soldier...
pardon my language btw but I can't stress this enough!

I will say this, though I enjoy this game under most circumstances, it is when the members of a team make the effort to work together (win or lose) that I find most rewarding. When you dont' work together, it is really like playing offline, just the AI used by your teamates and opposition is less predictable.. No, it isn't real life, but it's a heckuva lot more like it when we really work together as a team.

One time I was playing guidance, and the teamwork was so good it felt like a real seal team. We did win the game and we were complete strangers. All because of teamwork.

Radix said it best so I wont quote him.

Usually if you stay in pairs the opposition has a tough time killing both of you. Unless they got an auto shottie.

You need not only good players, but good teamwork to be successful.
