Staying Alive!!!
I've only been playing Socom for about 2 months now and I still have the hardest time staying alive. I dunno what it is, I play all the time but don't seem to be getting any better. I pretty much get 1 kill per 1.5 deaths. Do you guys have any tips on how to stay alive longer, other than the obvious . . . kill someone before they kill you? Even if I am alive after the round is over I usually do something stupid like step on a mine or something.
Also, it seems like when I shoot someone it takes me at least a clip or so to put them down, but when I get shot . . . I'm toast in 2 or 3 hits. Any tips you guys can give me are greatly appreciated. I know what I'm doing, but knowing what to do and actually doing it are 2 different things. Thanx.

well here are some tips for u man:
1) camp, get used to shoooting instead of rushig and shooting.
2) the reason it takes u a WHOLE clip is because u arent hitting them
3) use a strong gun, like the m14, or aks-74 dont use the 9mm
4) get used to the level, make sure u know what ur doing
5) have fun, u will get better man. :D

Well, maybe you should follow some other players around and work with them. Also, whenever the round is over and the other team is already dead, I just find a place way out of the way and go prone. That way you dont get shot by your teamates that are celebrating and you dont step on any mines.
BTW, is Sgt. Standanko ur socom name? If it is then im pretty sure i've played with u before.

once the other team is dead just stand still, that will solve your dying after the game deaths, I laugh at people who run around trying to be cute after we win then BAM PMN mine kills them. Just stand still people, everyone is already dead...lol.

Don't always rush- it's a tactical game not just a power rush game like CS is to an extent.
Burst your shots- if you use an M14 and hold down full auto, you probably won't stand a chance since you'll lose your bullets so fast. M14 burst is the most lethal weapon in the game- I can hit anybody as long as they're visible through my binocs.
If you see someone's head, don't be afraid to shoot it. Like at Crossroads, if you see a head peeking over a ledge, shoot it- burst at it and get the recoil to take you directly to his head. Easy kill.
If you're running behind someone, don't full auto unless you're really close. Otherwise, aim more towards the upper body/head, and burst some shots around it and you should take him down easy.
Hope this helps...these are all my secrets o.o lol

get a strong gun,
know your level and where people usually go.
look behind u every so often

Re: Staying Alive!!!
Use the 3rd person camera angles to your advantage
YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT b/c the best of us do it for the "easy" kills
Choose your weapon wisely (don't use something that doesn't suit your playing style)
Somebody else said it.....follow people....provide cover fire for someone....watch their backside....i hate when i THINK someone's got my back, but they're looking the same way as me...focking noobs

Right on guys, thanks. I will try some of these. I've tried camping, but it's just not for me. I like to rush so I can get a better feel for the maps that I play on. I dunno, I'm down to try anything. A lot of my deaths come from getting 'naded tho. I guess I need to learn how to find cover better.
And Gordy, yeah . . . this is my Socom name. I could be me, but I have bumped into other people with variations to this name. I guess Cheech and Chong is pretty popular, I get comments all the time. Thanks again guys.
