Close range combat... Tips?

I haven't played much, just enough to get the good 'ol butterball rank. That is mostly just for my consistancy in playing however... I have pretty decent strategy and everything, and my sniping skills are TOO shabby, but I am absolutely HORRIBLE at close combat. I couldn't kill someone if I had full health and they had half. I don't know exactly what my problem is, maybe it's because I never played PS2 before this game nor did I play 3rd person shooters, but still. I think I would have an advantage after a month (more or less) of gameplay.... could anyone help me out with some tips or advantages of any kind? Thanks....

ok well here r just some weapon suggestions for close combat, here if u are a terrorist use an M3 12 gauge, or M14 and seals u can use an M4A1, M14, or IW-80-A2 these are good for close combat for me but others may have different opinions

I guess I didn't clearify well... I mean more-so in the tactic of aim and movement rather than whippin out the cheap M60 or w/e.... so do i take it slow? or do i aim high and tap like a mo-fo?

- make sure you have a gun that has lots of bullets, fast, and barely any recoil...
- sometimes what happens toi me is i sometimes leave it on single shot instead of automatic.
- when you're in close range combat just strafe back and forth, hold the fire button, and just keep the cross hairs as close as you can to your enemy

Don't panic and hold down R1 like your life depended on it- it's better to burst, you'll be more accurate, and you'll save ammo for when they have to reload and you can get a better shot and take 'em out.

Try, if at ALL possible, to get behind cover. Even if you have no health left, you can get back around the corner and pop 'em in the head to get the kill.

If all else has failed, and you're just about dead and reloading, get on the ground. This confuses some players- especially if another person was just killed, or if it's a big firefight. This won't necessarily work very much, but you'll be surprised when it does.

close range is sometimes bullshyt...only cause of the fact that say the guy is in front of you and he's shooting away from you, sort of like he has his back to you...sometimes he kills you and i find that very hard to believe unless they are packing heat seeking bullets. I HATE THAT SHYT. Other than that, AIM for the HEAD.
