Twelve people online, and I'll be willing to bet that there is still a good amount of lag playing online.

haha

ppl

the most ive seen is around 35000 ppl on. it was pretty laggy too. that is the problem with the ps2. the system isnt as powerful as it should be to support a high quality game like socom2 online. with computer online games the computers can run games online with virtually no lag, but when ppl with crappy comps play it will lag bad. god i hate lag!!

You're not supporting 35000 people...Just you and the 15 other people in the room...

Wow...

I'm going to try to put together an article discussing the Sony/Socom network architecture. But that may take a while, as I don't know much about it yet.

They way I see it (from a network design point of view.) The number of people online should not make a difference to gameplay. Maybe just the signon screens, player/ranking screens, administration stuffs.

There may be 10,000 games running at a time, but they are not all going to be going through the same 1 server. There will be a network of servers. And thus each server should be able to handle the number of players it has taken.

I'm courious if the lag is more or less in the breifing rooms were almost all the games are hosted games, or all the games played are server rooms.

If anyone has done any nosing around with a packet sniffer please private message me. I would be interested to compare our notes.

The most I have seen is 34,000 but if 100,000 people are allowed why is there just so much lagging and booting when there is just 34,000?

well, if anyone can recall, because i sure do... back around the christmas time that SOCOM2 mainly came out and everyone got the game, i wittnessed and all time high of about 98thousand people on. i was like "holy $h!t" there is no way. but then everyone started calling each other christmas n00bs and what not and i didnt get it so i took the n00bs sides on these ones. the game has just recently come out at that time and not everyone could get it or they just waited until christmas to get it so everyone was technically a n00b, still was a n00b, or was a n00b at some point in playing the game because no one has been playing it for any more than 1 month at that time. i just didnt get it
