sorry about resurrecting this old thread.
i saw the sales of this game, 470,000 according to VGF, looks like its been a failure. I think namco was looking to sell around 2.3 million copies, which certainly wasn't unreasonable considering that they sold 2.85 million with Ace combat 4. I haven't played this very much (apart from demo) as I have no 360, which leads me to believe its failure is due to
a) the game sucks and did not reach its full potential
b) poor marketing
c) Namco were idiots for experimenting how well the game goes down with xbox users without having a ps3 version as a backup (after all this game has been so successful due to PS users as far as flight games go). They've been building up a fan base for 12-13 years and then they try to make it big on the 360 without looking at the risks (half of their PS fans if not more won't have a xbox). Multiplatform was the way to go, hope AC7 is more successful.
d) ac on PS2 was huge as the console had a huge install base at the time Ac4 was released (around 2 - 3 years after console launch) so sales would be better
