It is the closest likeness of a Next-Gen Socom I've seen. There are alot of maps. As soon as I turned on the game they had a downloadable map pack. Weapons work good.

The Clan Options are stellar !! You can pick what Camo Pattern you want for your clan. And you can pick patches and different symbols that represent your clan. No 2 Clans are the same. I haven't even had the chance yet to try all the online modes and there are alot.

After I played it online, I played SP for a little while and got a better idea of the control functions. I never played the 1st GRAW.
This game is definetly worth the purchase IMO. What a Great day to get my 360 Back. I'll be showcasing this game to my ignorant friends that still Love the steaming pile of dog poo that is - Socom, to Convert them over to wonderful world of XBL.

I would sure as hell be up for that, a VGF clan would be awesome. Most people on the boards don't like GRAW though excluding me, you, zero, and omega..(I'm not sure about Zero, it seemed like he didn't care too much for it) so it might get off to a slow start..but yeah, I'd definitely love to see a VGF clan on GRAW 2.

All Zero is concerned with is my 360 failing again......

I'm going to play some SP when I get home later and be playing some multiplayer there-after. I don't see why anyone would dislike it. We'll have to see what OME6A and others want to do.

I'm looking at this achievment for 20 Points for Helo Hunter , shootdown 20 Helicopters in Helicopter Hunt Mode. I must investigate.

lol, I love this game. I didnt even know nightbringer was sugarfreekcookie until now, lol.

Nightbringer I was just messin with you, but all joking aside, GRAW 2 is amazing, I got addicted to it, and I am all up for a VGF clan, just someone start it up! (Or I can)

But I do think this game is great, only a few minor complaints, like the way people run around, they kind of slide. And that they took out the cover system for online. Only 2 things that bug me, but, the game is too good for these things to even bother me.

Lib, you'll want to read this...

I think I was justified in describing Rainbow Six: Vegas as a next-gen Socom 2. The maps are small enough, and if you're under the right influences, some maps resemble S2 maps (Dam=Chain Reaction, BorderTown=Vigilance, Streets & Killhouse = the base on Death Trap).

I think it's safe to say that Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is the equivalent of a next-gen Socom 3, for better or worse. With the free map available to download at launch, there are 19 different maps. Nineteen. That's 10 + 9 people, which equals a lot of replay value. If you count the 3 different daylight options available, the number goes up.

Each of those maps are designed with a number of players in mind, and they are labeled as such. Some are so small that they're intended for 4-8, and when playing them you'll definitely be killed every couple of seconds. The maps range in size from there, to accommodate up to the max of I believe 16 players (8vs EIGHT). If you stick with the map:player ratio recommendations, you'll always have an action packed game.

Some of the maps offer outdoor, middle of nowhere type action. Some offer intense close-quarters urban combat. Others are a mix of the two. One thing is for certain, these maps are incredible. Every map has tons of cover. There's always something to duck behind, allowing you to somewhat safely traverse some of the open space. Every map I've played is perfectly balanced, and they're all beautiful. I though the graphics of R6V were great at 1080i until I saw GRAW2 on my tv. Their level of detail, depth and clarity is impeccable.

So there's a catch, right? With maps this rich & big, and the literal dozens of weapons to choose from, there's got to be lag? Nope, you won't find any here. People drop, and this is no exaggeration, 2-3 shots.

Everything’s not puppies and rainbows though, there's a handful of flaws with this game.

Most importantly, the controls/movement system. GRAW and R6 are both made by Ubisoft, and you'd think there'd be some unison in their controller schemes. The differences are minor, but it's enough to make it tricky to go back and forth between the games.

GRAW does not have R6's lean/cover feature. I think that's a big loss. You can lean and take cover socom-style in GRAW.

Your character's movement in GRAW is not near as good as it is in R6 either. Starting from a dead-stop, your character is very sluggish, and slowly builds up speed. Turning is slow, so when you run into and pass someone, it's very difficult to spin around and take them out. The worst of it all is that when at top speed, your character is moving at what seems like 20mph. You're seriously flying. Precision shooters(those that go for those one shot kills or shoot in bursts) will suffer the most from this. Your opponent will be moving all over the place.

There's going to be a lot of camping in this game. I mean a lot. Due to the realism of the graphics, the size & density of the maps, being able to prone, the power of the weapons and the accuracy of the hit detection, it'll be very easy for someone to sit and wait in one spot for people to come along. I anticipate clan matches taking a good 3-5 hours each.

There's a tremendous lack of character customization in GRAW. It's restricted to your head and soldier class. You can pick from different faces and helmet/mask/goggle combos. You can also select a male or female character.

As Nun mentioned, the in-game clan system seems where they put all the customization. I only briefly looked at it, but you can make a logo/badge for your clan, link to your clan's website, and some other things I don't really recall.

Based on playing for several hours last night, I give this game an overall 8.5 out of 10. If not for the sluggish to warp speed movement, it'd be a perfect 10.

I'd love to do a VGF clan with you guys, but I've already got one.

Yeah, that basically sums up what I wanted to say earlier

I only played this game for a few hoursa last night. I didn't get around to seeing if there were any controller options as far as adjust the Look Speed ??
The camping has been somewhat limited because when you get close to the vicinity of an enemy you get that red diamond, true ?? I'll have a better idea of this game after today. But, everything that OME6A states is the hardcore truth.

Thank you for the wonderful, detailed post Omega, you just made me go rent this game. ily <3

The only things I really didn't like was the character movement, the drone, and the way you can heal your teammates. I guess I'm so used to Vegas, that trying something new, by the same creators, and it not being as good as Vegas just turned me off of the game...

But I'm going to go rent it, and if I can force myself to get a good feel to the ACTUAL game, instead of the demo, I just may buy it.

You should really give the game a try creep, at least RENT IT, because it is a great game. On behalf of what omega said, yes, there is plenty camping possibilities, but from my experiences..I rarely have ever encountered campers (From what I have played). Not to mention, the maps are so incredibly UN-linear, that you can easily, EASILY flank any camper like that.*Snaps fingers. Its not efficient to camp in GRAW 2, do to the un-liniarness of the maps, your vulnerable from nearly ever angle.

You should try the game man(Gamefly it or something), I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.
