Actually, I am hoping that both updates make both games better... I like both of them equally, to be totally honest.
I'm sure both updates would be great and build even more on two already awesome games. I must get my GOW back from my buddy today. I haven't played in quite some time.
From what i saw of the online, its OKAY. Nothing special, lackluster setup almost like RSV (feels like Gamespy set it up, and i ****ing hate that). I gotta choose RSV though

I got both about a week apart, GoW first, and have found myself playin R6 all the time, I like GoW but it got to be to the point were you had ppl you were playin for like 10hrs a day and with no respawns, I have to admit I got owned a few times. However I have yet to play it with the new annex mode so I will be givin that a try in the next few days, my feeling get both, play both, they are awesome games in their own sense.

If you like to jump out of ur skin while playin online as someone chainsaws you in half from behind. Only up to 4 players online = Gears of war
OR
16 Player sharpshooters with some tactical teamates who think they know what they are doing as your planting C4 on their back = Rainbow Six Vegas
Either way a good choice
but personally id go with Rainbow
