This is kinda off topic, but I play my ps2 all the time and I still have the original fattie I got at launch...maybe you just have a streak of bad sony luck.
no joke... i still have my fatty that i got at launch and haven't ever had one disk read error or anything. And I leave it on for weeks at a time so I don't have to go through the menu screen or anything. And unlike everybody it seems, I have my orginal logitech mic that I have had for about 2-3 years.
