I'm talking about the indicator that shows up over the Russian soldiers' heads... something like "N.V.R.D.", or some crap. To me... that's just not realistic.

I don't know, maybe you're right. To tell you the truth, I don't remember. I returned the game to the store last week, and, for the life of me, I don't remember any indicators above the enemies' heads, or the friendlies' [sic?] heads, either, for that matter. Who knows? Maybe I've lost my mind. Still, I think Sniper Elite's a great game. It kicked ***. Just like SOCOM. That, I do remember.
As far as other games go, I just rented Shellshock: Nam '67 (I think that's what's it's call), and it's pretty good - makes me want to try an M14 the next time I play SOCOM. :)
Edit January 23, 2006: I rented Sniper Elite again, and there are no indicators above the enemies heads - it must be an option I turned off (probably the "tutorial" mode in the preferences section).
So, I'm sticking by my guns and recommending this game again. To tell you the truth, I think it gets better and better with every mission I play (just "The French Cathedral" mission is worth the price of admission: you climb up a three hundred, or so, foot spiral tower and snipe from atop - very cool). Anybody who loves third person perspective sniper games should check it out.
