Resident Evil 4 (PS2 & GC)

Anyone played it yet? I played it for GameCube awhile back and I loved it. I even thought about buying one just so I could play it. Then I heard it was coming out for PS2 and I was so happy.

Anyways, it finally came out this past Tuesday and I picked mine up yesterday and played it for a little bit. (Not long because I work A LOT and have strat guide to write.) I was amazed at how much better it was for PS2.

It's totally different from previous Resident Evil titles. If you've ever played a Resident Evil game you know what it's like. Camera overhead, bad angles, limited weapons and tight spaces to fight in. Well this game is revamped in all areas. It's now in an "over the shoulder" view. Those angles which you can't see from are gone. There are many weapons available for you to purchase and upgrade and the terrain is very wide open allowing for manuveurablity during fights.

The best new feature is the action button. During certains fights and cutscenes a message will pop up quickly at the bottom of the screen prompting you to hit a certain button(s). If you press them in time you will perform an action corresponding to the scene/fight/area you're in. It can be really helpful at times.

IMO this is the BEST Resident Evil game to date. I'd recommend it to anyone is is a fan of the series, even those who aren't seeing as it's so different.

Agreed.

I purchased the "limited edition" copy & played the game on my Gamecube when RE4 first came out, and I was MORE than happy with the changes Capcom decided to make to the (in my opinion) stale franchise.

Still have yet to play (or even see) the PS2 version...
