see that's what I heard initially too.. but I have a friend that works for a video game store & he said the inside scoop is they are pushing it back further because they think they can get another year or so out of the PS2??
I doubt that staff at a games store are told these things before the media gets a hold of it... they have to release soon or the tide will turn in the console war... Xbox came out years after PS2 and never made up the numbers to be more successful, and if too many 360's are sold before PS3 comes out Sony are screwed

Well, I'd be willing to bet that they hear more advance information at a gaming store, than say, some jerk working the sales floor at some backwoods Circuit City store.

I mean more news paper and 9 o'clock news style media... the amount of money involved in gaming, they have to report it, and 16 months more 'til the release is more than enough to get announced
i'm not swearing allegiance by it.... that's just what I heard. But even if it comes out this fall... how long did it take you guys to get the PS2??? I couldn't get one until March/April (4-5months later).
