Halo 3 vs. Gears of War

I liked playing Gears of War a lot, because of it's rather new cover system and the overall frantic pace of events, and the overall presentation was ok.
Now recently, i popped in a game on my PC called "KILL SWITCH" . It was surprising to see that almost all of the so called innovated gameplay mechanics in GOW were copied over faithfully from this relatively unknown game ( except that epic feel ). I had to look up at wikipedia, and there it was : "Kill switch was the inspiration for epic games to develop this game.....!!!"

In my opinion Gears has a better campaign. Halo 3 has a better multi-player. They are both great games. But I honestly don't get why people ALWAYS compare Halo and Gears against each other. One is FPS the other is TPS. One is more rambo than the other one is. It isn't all that easy to compare the two. I mean BEFORE Gears even came out people were saying "Is Gears of War the next Halo?" And I am thinking no it isn't because it is a different kind of game. Gears of War's gameplay is fairly unique. Halo's gameplay has been done before. So, like I said, Gears of War beats Halo 3 in campaign. Halo 3 beats Gears of War in multi-player. But, it's just my opinion.

good point they are 2 completely different games. I think what brings people to compare them is that they're both incredible hits on xbox, they attract the same kind of players, and they're both in the same kind of genre- killing ****.

Yes I suppose that makes sense. Since they are two of the hottest games on 360 it makes sense as to why people compare the two. I still think it's not that easy to compare Gears of War to any other game. I was talking to my brother about it and he really does NOT like Gears of War. I don't like the overall story cause it is the same old repetitive save the world and I HATE the A.I. But, what makes me love Gears so much is how they portrayed the save the world story, how they put it together, the environments, and, of course, the gameplay. I haven't played Gears of War 2 yet but I heard it is A LOT better than 1. So holy crap can't wait to play that bad boy. =)

Interesting how you say that because I've always felt that the story of gears has been its weakest point. The whole save humanity thing is done all the time, you'd figure it would be a no brainer for them to pull off. I don't know, maybe it's just me...

In that respect, Halo is way more cinematic and epic.

the first gears of war there really isnt too much abt the story line, if any. rit off the back u r handed a gun and are ecpected to fight. i mean i dont mind that but its kinda fun and interesting to c what the story is all about.
halo 3 on the otherhand honestly i was kinda sad with the ending. i hoped master chief would have lived. mayb he survived who knows and mayb microsoft will come out with like halo 4 showing his escape from the clucthes of death. who knows.
but i cant choose between the 2. they both are awesome by my standards.

I think that in the end of halo 3, he does live but the rest of the people on earth just assumes he's dead because he and cortana never return.

I don't think Bungie would kill Master Chief.

cant say it didnt. thats actually the first thing that i thought of after honeslty kinda being sad that master chief died.

bungie probably cant kill him so they might come up w/a story where he survived or more like him were made. but really though i cant imagine the story picking up from anywhere.
Where do u guys think they can pick up the story from? without having a war w/the aliens they just made up with.

Neither can I but that doesn't mean that Master Chief is dead (not sure if thats what you were getting at).

Also, Bungie (the godlike creators of Halo and its universe) don't intend on making a 4th installment which takes place after Halo 3. To them, the story is complete.

Supposedly it's been in and out of pre-production because of the budget.

I hope they make one. I will be so happy if they do! Halo is too much of a beast for them NOT to make a movie out of it.
