Connection problem...
I posted this in the sticky, but that doesnt seem to move as fast as this does down here. Plus, I am lost right now. Its been 4 days of no SOCOM.

Whats up everybody...

For the last couple of days, we have not been able to get any of our PS2's online in the house. We have 3 online, and have been using the same setup for months. Now all of a sudden, nothing. It says that there is a connection faliure. I can't even test a connection without it timing out. I have reset my modem and router, and all computers hooked up to this connection work.

I am confused. What happened?

Try ringing your ISP this is the answer I hate to get but its the best one.

Though what actually happened, were you messing with router settings or what They just stop working?

One day it worked, and the next day it didnt. We are on a cable modem connection (networked), and I have been using this type of connection for years now. I thought maybe something happened with one of the ports of the router, but I rearanged them and still nothing, but the computers still connect. I have never had this problem.

I will give Time Warner a call.

I read something about reporting your PS2's MAC address to Sony and they can boot you, or something like that. Could that be a possibility? We are not glitchers/cheaters. Could they pull all of our PS2 info off of SOCOM II screen name because we have all of ours networked?

You can be banned from Socom but I have never actualy seen it happen. If someone (a jurk) went around taking info then sending it to sony telling your glitching and giving your name and time ect how could they ban you there is no hard evidence that you cheated its one mans word against another.

For your connection problem, buy a new cable and try that. When I first got my online set up I wrecked the prongs on the cable trying to pull it through holes in the house So check to make sure your prongs on each end of your cable are straight and not all messed up.

These are the same cables I have used for months (I made them, and they are tested). I even switched cables with a one that is hooked up to the cable that is alowing me to do this (connect to this MB), and still nothing. Even bad cables doesnt make sense, how are 3 cables going to go bad all at once?

I did contact the ISP and they said that nothing was blocked or no actions taken against our account. So I am at a loss. I dont know what to do now...

Do you have a firewall on your router? If so are you using DMZ or Port Forwarding to allow your PS2 to connect? If the answer is yes to both then you should check your IP addresses and make sure they didn't get reassigned which happens when set up with DHCP. Also, try pinging your PS2s from your computer to make sure they are connected on the local network.

Im back and running...

I couldnt figure out anything, and as a last resort, I swapped out my Linksys W/L Router for a 8 port switch. Deleted and created all new NC files on the PS2's and BOOM.

You can now catch me 2 Steppin' all over the place!

I still wish I could figure out what the problem was though (I know it was the router but why).

Thanks
