no credit for any of the answers, most have been answered by lots of other people, but the ones that are big (like the cleaning your ps2 lens thing, by Cheesy) I'll give credit for.
I'm going to do most of the basic questions...and the most basic and simple answers.

Help I can't see all of the rooms!
Try going into your filters and allowing all maps. When you log online, go into Options > Filters and allow all maps.
I get MVP, or do really really good, and I drop in my rank!
Short and simple, rank doesn't matter, skills do. BUT what determines rank is: Winning rounds & having more kills than deaths & defusing bombs. Planting the bomb, blowing up gates, rescuing hostages, killing V.I.P.'s, etc... does nothing for your rank unless, that is, if one of the following helps you win a round.
Where can I get all 3 HDD downloadable maps?

How do I make and send taunts while I'm playing online?
Once you log online, go into Options, now go into Taunts and edit them to whatever you want. To use them while in mid-game,
PRESS "O" (circle) until that screen comes up, go down to Taunts, and pick your taunt. Taunrs only come in text, there is no way you can send an audio taunt or anything, just tex.

What's with the tremendous lag on socom?!
Nothing, no...it's not hacked. Socom has its usual lag spikes, the time you experienced it might've been one. Also, it may be you, you might be the one lagging, ever think of that? More than often it's a bad host connection though.
I had a DSL connection now that I switched to cable I can't connect online!
Make sure your firewall isn't blocking anything from happening, and make sure all your settings are correct. If worse comes to worse, call your ISP.
WTF?!?! I start late in the round sometimes, there's about 30 seconds done already and people are already running around!
Mostly it's either bad luck, or a bad connection on either your part, or the hosts. It could also be your disc, try getting a new disk, if not, maybe you need to clean your ps2, in that case, see below.
My ps2 won't read the discs, it makes a loud skipping noise and doesn't read the discs!

Now the fun begins  :
Break that blasted seal!

On the bott om of the PS2, there are 4 rubber 'feet' and 4 plastic square pads. Pull them off and put them to the side.
Take your screwdriver and unscrew all 8 screws.
~Note~ Remember which screw goes where ~Note~
Now, lift the cover and pull towards you over the memory card, controller slot.
~Note~ Take care NOT TO RIP the power ribbon. I ripped it and had to buy a completely new PS2... ~Note~
You now see a miniture version of hell. Take the vacuum/towel and clean out all the dust in the air vent and silver slits.
Next, use the small screwdriver and unscrew the cover for the disc tray. Set it to the side.
Now, take your rubbing alcohol and Q-tips and clean the lens by dipping the tip of the Q-tip into the container of the rubbing alcohol. Do not get it dripping wet.
You have just performed a simple maintenance session of your PS2. Test to see if this possibly was the problem. How to Test:
Replace the cover to the disc tray only and push down gently to keep in in place. You don't have to put the main cover of the PS2 on. Turn on, put game in and try.
If it still doesn't work...:
We move to the technical part of the operation.
Remove the disc tray cover and look near the lens.
You should see a small white pronged disc-wheel.
~Note~What this disc does, is that it raises and lowers the distance between the CD and the lens. You can see for yourself AFTER the next step~Note~
Make a perpendicular mark on the disc.
Special Step A-Now, rotate the disc three clicks clockwise to the right.
Special Step B-Test it (use procedure shown above).
Continue to do Special Step A and Special Step B until it works.
WARNING, IF YOU FOLLOWED MY OPERATION STEP BY STEP AND DID NOT GET SUCCESSFUL RESULTS, PLEASE NOTE THAT I WARNED YOU PRIOR TO THE OPERATION THAT THERE IS A CHANCE IT WILL NOT WORK. I WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Now... if you get the message, "Cannot Read Disc", you have a motherboard problem. This can only be replaceable by Sony. Call the number and send it in.

I have a wireless router, and it's having trouble connecting to socom, it works fine with other games like MADDEN though.....help!
I think you can try two things. You can either manually open each port that the PS2 might use, and forward it to the IP address of your PS2 (which you should probably enter all of that info manually, to save one step for a possible DHCP failure)...
OR, you can just set your PS2 to be the DMZ host. Hopefully, you have that available, and also I'd still set the IP info manually.
I think my USB port needs cleaning, how do I do it?

I'm sorry about the lack of connection FAQ's on here but frankly, most of the questions weren't answered. if your questions isn't answered on here, tthen make a new topic, I would put more connection problem FAQ's....but....most were left with "justt call your ISP". Sooooo....
