ONLINE connection error
Just got the new socom 2 but cannot play.

Connection is ok, using existing DNAS username and password. I create an account, the same as what I have used for socom 1, and then save to card and try to connection. On doing so, it says, 'player name unknown' would I like to register? YES/NO? On saying either YES or NO, it kicks me back to the account setup. After 10 trys it locks the machine. All this time I am seeking network activity, but no gaming. socom 1 works fine, same settings, username and password.

What do I need to do????

Nick

yes, using an adsl router.

like i say, all works fine with socom 1. same settings and same DNAS connection. I then connect to the server and then get asked for account details. It is following that, while still connected, I get the error.

Should I use the same account name and passward as socom 1?

If I do use the same account name but wrong passward it would say that, right?

The error is something like 'user unknow', then asks if i would like to register. if i say yes or no, it kicks me out saying logged off.

dont give up-
ok man, did u try this- if possible use a new/different memory card to create a network and SOCOM account. Use a memory card that has NO SOCOM/network data at all- in other words "start clean". If you can connect online with SOCOM 1, then at least you know you can get online with your PS2. Don't gove up man, I messed around over 2hours before I sat down and played without looking back- Good Luck man...

Sure, I will write up anything I find out.

I tried last night to re-build the connection set-up for the broadband. This tested successfully, worked for Socom-1, but failed repeatedly for Socom-2!! After 5 attempts, it accessed to see the Universe but then the system failed to connect with my account details.

Is there an early issue of the game that is corrupt? What is the revision of the game? How can I check this?

This may not apply here but did you set up your initial configuration with the CD that came with the network adapter and how long has it been that you bought the adapter? I had a serious problem with getting connected using the CD released with the adapter about 3 months ago. I had to use my friends CD which was an older version of the configuration files
