Day one sales: 55% 360 45% PS3
360 edges out PS3 in day one GTA sales - news - www.mcvuk.com

I don't know how valid this is, considering it would be hard to get sales data that quickly. >_>

Either way, according to this, they are both very close, someone that could easily change over a short period of time.

EDIT: This is for the UK only o_o

Since that is Uk only, I would say that GTAIV probably sold around 1.5 million in the US. If you include the rest of Europe and the few people that buy the game in Japan...the game could have reached 2.5 million? That is my guess.

P.S. I just got GTAIV (360) in the mail today from Gamefly. 1 day after release...not bad!

That's It !! Fanboy contest is over ! Everybody take your PS3's to Town Square and set them on fire. Joking

I figured the 360 would get the edge slightly in sales.
1,500,000.00 X $60.00 = $ 90,000,000.00 = WOW !

It's also a little messed up that the PS3 folks can't even feel the awesomeness of online play in this game. It's sort of says a lot about the online capabilities of the PS3. I'm really feeling for you guys, see we had to deal with this type of thing back in Dec.

Did they ever say how much it cost to make the game.

Oh, they'll say it's Rockstar's fault, not Sony's, and they'll be right because the studios have to run their multiplayer. That's why the PS3 is so great, because the online is free, because Sony doesn't actually do anything.

I'm not surprised figures are being reported this quickly. It's a huge title, and everyone wants to know how it stands against Halo 3 and COD4.

It is Rockstar's fault....but is Sony's fault for leaving it up to developers in the first place. If developers care so much about the online play, that could easily make a proper working online set up on the PS3. But that takes time and money. Well...PS3 saves compression time which is a plus, but that really only matters for exclusive games.

Also, if I had a game like GTAIV...or really ANY game, I would beat it before playing online. So they can just wait a few days and stop being impatient. :p

These Servers we are talking about is housed at sony, They are sony's servers. They were not designed to handle this much bandwidth. Sony failed at upgrading before GTA was released. This is all Sony's fault. Xbox had its issue with this problem to. At least it happened in back in the winter before most of the games were released. Rockstar has no control over hosting game once it leaves the shelves. Rockstar is merely the producer of this game. I'm sure they should test these games a little harder on the servers.

Mike, I love ya buddy, but you're wrong.

With Sony, game studios have to provide and manage their online services. So, in this case, Rockstar has to run their own servers, manage the game invites, etc. The PSN, and playing PS3 games online are two entirely different things. It's like driving your car to a racetrack, and then getting into the racecar and driving around the track. I suck with analogies, so just pretend I said something there that makes a lot of sense.

I've could of sworn that PS3 has dedicated servers. Was that the old plan or something. If that is the case, then I'm guessing that you get what you pay for...

PS3 games don't all have dedicated servers, and they are not Sony's servers unless they are first party games, or if they are published by Sony.

Games CAN have dedicated servers. Example would be Warhawk, and I think Resistance had them maybe? I know some other games did too, but none that I played.

To run Warhawk's dedicated servers, they have hundreds of PS3s stacked up on racks in a highly cooled room each running a server on a very fast connection.

The PSN is just like how games have been run on PC since how many years ago. I think developers just got too comfortable with Xbox Live and don't want to put out the effort to actually maintain their own game.
