My Wii experience

So I've played the Wii before at my friends house but never enough to actually have any comments about it.

Since I work at the local video store now I'm allowed to rent anything I want in the store for free for up to 3 days. Last night I rented the Wii, Carnival Games, Tiger Woods 07, The Sims, and Bowling.

I won't say the Wii is bad but it's really not as good as I thought it was going to be. The sensor or the controller or the combination of both suck. It was really touchy at times while some other times it didn't work at all. I'm really not a fan of the sensor, controller thing, it wasn't fun for me.

The bowling game I rented was cool but I think the Wii physics are garbage. In real life I suck terribly at bowling, I can't throw straight or put a curve on the ball to save my life, but on the Wii bowling I was a freakin' hero. I could put a nasty curve on the ball without trying at all, and would get strike after strike after strike. Also, sometimes I would knock 6-7 pins down and some would slide into others and wouldn't knock them down. To say the least I wasn't impressed.

Tiger Woods was far to hard. You have to be like a pro to play golf on the Wii. I would have the straightest back swing possible and I would still slice the ball 75 miles into the woods. The putting, IMO, was hard as hell. All in all I hated it.

The only game I really got into was Carnival games. Some of the games on there were awesome like dunk tanks, the couple shooting games, basketball, and the test of strength. Other than those games the other ones were very boring and somewhat hard to play. I don't know if it was the controller or the sensor but sometimes it work 0%.

I wasn't expecting the Wii to be amazing, but I was expecting more than what I got. The controller and sensor IMO were lame as hell, most of the time it really didn't work. I'm not saying the Wii is terrible and you shouldn't buy one but I would definitely consider a 360 or a PS3 first. All in all I give my Wii experience a 3 out of 10, I was very dissatisfied.

LOL you rented the wrong games.

there are other cool games that demonstrate the coolness of the wii. Wii sports is a fantastic game to start off the wii experience. Also games like excite truck, mariokart/galaxy/super paper, warioware, zelda, Brain age, trauma center, RE4, and hell, even cooking mama are great games that show of the wiis uniqueness. Its Generally games like that, mixed in with alot of multiplayer titles, and its internet functionallity and virtual console that make the wii standout. Its a great system by itself, even moreso when they relase more wii channels, but for now it does go best complimenting an xbox or playstation. But what wouldnt compliment an xbox or playstation lol.

Super Swing Golf is better than Tiger IMO

We have mariokart/galaxy/and super paper but I think 2 of the 3 were out. I have never liked Zelda so I didn't bother. Brain age and Trauma Center we don't have, and RE4 was out.

The Wii usually come with Wii sports when you rent the system but the people that rented it out before me didn't return it yet.

The wii my friend is not your kind of system. Not mine either. They should make blue tooth controllers and make more realistic games as well.

Damn that sucks, to get a system and have your first impression marred by mediocre games. Its like renting a ps3 with spiderman3, or an xbox360 with "the history channel: Cvil war" lol. Unfortunatly the best games are those made by Nintendo, we are seeing more companies crank up the quality recently tho.

Styles, sometime I'll rent the Wii again and I'll try the game you suggested. Only problem is we are the only video store in the area the rents out Wii games so they go fast. Actually now that I think of it, our only competition is going out of business so that means the Wii games are going to go even faster.

Damn thats even worse. Eh, but if you can rent it for free, i guess it never matters what games u get LOLOLOL. I was also thinking tho, do play RE$ if you ever get the chance, man the wii mote works twice as good as the controller. It was amazing how fast i was going through the game.

the wii I think is definately more fum iof you are playing it with friends than it is on the single player experience. I have never really had too much fun playing one alone, (I know there are a few good single player games out there), but not enough to support me buying one. I'll stick to my computer and consoles for now I guess.

I didn't play alone. Me, my girlfriend, and a couple other people played.

I think carnival games was one of the games you should NOT have rented.

The system itself is definetly innovative and has added a cool element to gaming. It sucks that most games for wii dont utilize the remote and sensor systems well at all. Games like dragonball budokai utilize it a whole lot and its cool how they loosely emulate the actual moves from the series.

some people like it some people dont, but its not something for a hardcore gamer...yet
