I think the helicopters just follow the action really. I doubt they target specific players, just the ones who are too slow to get to cover.
If a helicopter is out, I make sure I am always within a few steps of cover, even if its only a dumpster or something. The problem I usually have is I don't realise my head is sticking over the top of my cover and I get hit by the helicopter or a sniper.
I hate it when people complain about the chopper been out, but don't do anything to take it down. I am usually the guy who ends up taking it down. You are better using an LMG rather than an RPG.
What IW should have done is make it possible to take out the pilot or target specific parts of the engine. This would make it easier to take out, but still quite difficult all the same. Once the chopper is down, there should be a cooling off period/refuel period. On games like Countdown when 3 people call in a chopper in a row, it gets a bit annoying.
The worst thing I have seen from an airstrike came a few days ago. 2 players must have sent the airstrike in at exactly the same time and 4 jets came in from 2 separate directions. Good job it wasn't 3 from each. They still missed me.
