Abigale announced today that the closed beta will be open to a small handful of people.

In order to be accepted into the beta, a member from the PS Forums must nominate you. From there, they will determine if you should be accepted. You can't nominate yourself, so it doesn't look like random members will have a good chance of getting in the closed beta, although there will be another beta round after. Details on that have not been released, though.

I was nominated, along with a group of other people who I feel know what's best for Socom.

That's ****ing retarded. So instead of being random and fair, it's going to be "nominate your e-homies". That reeks of fail.

At the least I hope you get accepted. I trust you'll represent the intelligent side of this forum, and do all that you can to bring any flaws to their attention. I also trust that you'll be taking tons of video, screenshots and notes on how everything is to share with us.

Otherwise I'm going to eat your dog, with a fine Chianti of course.

How would u know whats best for Socom when you dont even play the game all the time, you dont even play because you can get kills and cry about everything , all you dudes dont even play and whine about camping, learn to get better, not whining like the little kids that you act like bum.

Despite some of us having the foresight, resources, and aspirations for better things, it does not mean that we do not know, love, and have played countless hours of the Socom franchise.

I think playing any of the recent installments (Socom 3, or Combined Assault) endlessly is foolish, considering the much better alternatives at the moment. I'm not alone in this feeling, nor am I alone in having played a lot of these titles, and that is how we would know what would make Socom better.

Excuse me? How can you act as if you know anything about me?

Anyway, I don't think the system is perfect, but I'm happy with most of the people who have been nominated. We all seem to agree on the main issues and want the game similar to Socom 1/2.

This is only the first phase of beta testers, though. In the next phases more will be accepted and through other means.

I Love u not, Ive played the alternatives to socom but nothing compares to it. RSV 2 is fun and the online part is good but I always go back to the socrack.How do people get chosen for the beta? baby

Easily the worst beta selection I've ever seen. The PS forums are full of complete retards, and I wouldn't pick more than a handful of people on there for a beta, or for anything where even mediocre intelligence is required.

Nominations are just like Ome6a said, people will pick their friends and that's that. And then there's the people who wanted to be a part of the beta (me) and had no idea that posting on the Playstation forums would be a requirement for it. I've got 9 posts on there since 2005..... it's a worthless place and because I don't like to post there I now miss out on the first beta.

Well at least you've got a shot Steve, don't let us down, bcause I don't trust the other idiots that will probably get in.
