I see you're new here, so I'll be nice...

Just because games wouldn't be console-exclusive does not mean that they wouldn't try to be better than others. Afterall, you can watch a movie anywhere and on anything, and they compete just fine.

Honestly, it would only increase the competition because developers would not be able to use a system as a crutch, like "well we had to make it this way because the Wii can only do blah blah blah".

By eliminating the console from the equation, the focus turns entirely to quality and content.

well after reading the news on kojima struggling to fit the game on BD, i doubt the hd-dvd disc can store the content

MS isn't using the HD-DVD for the 360. It is the DVD-9, which the game definitely won't fit on.

What's interesting is that 1 disk is $60, and 4 disks is $60.

Why the hell are new games $60 if the cost of the disk is obviously not a factor?

What would you do if next-gen console games were $70. Would you keep playing?

Well, blu-ray discs are known to be more expensive than DVD-9. Not by some rediculous margin, but yes, they are more expensive. I think 60 dollars is fine, but MS is charging 60 dollars when it is on the same format as Wii games which are 50. That to me does not make that much sense since a DVD-9 is probably only a few bucks, and hell, these gaming companies might be getting them for cheaper.

Of course I would still keep playing... but that's just me. And by the time that video games are an additional $10, they should look and play nothing short of amazing... just my opinion.
