Buying vs renting a game
I guess it is better to rent the game for a few days to make sure the game is good rather than go ahead and purchase the game.
Some games apparently looks to be good, screeshots and trailers are great, but guess what? when you go play it is horrible....
As NEGATIVE CREEP was saying about Turok..... That the camera was shaking all the time is it really worth the $$$. I almost purchased that game.....I bought assassin's creed instead.
Thanks Negative

I recently signed up to a game rental website to save myself money to be honest. Renting a game, finishing it and never playing it again is better than buying a game, finishing it and never playing it again. It's rare that I go back to games once I've finished them, but I always hang on to my favourite games because I always tell myself I'll go back to it someday... sigh.
You made the right choice anyway, Assassin's Creed > Turok.

Ahh yes, good old "buyer's remorse"...
This year really made me think about buying vs renting a lot. I wasted a lot of money buying games that I ended up trading in a few days later. Typically I only got a $40 credit on those brand new games, so it was like spending $20 to rent a game.
Assassin's Creed was actually one of those games. I played it for a few hours and returned it the very next day. I was that displeased with it.

I actually buy games vs. renting them. The last games I rented were Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, and the last time I rented a game before those was about a year before. I had rented those games because a friend wanted to me to play with him on Xbox Live.
One of the primary reasons I buy video games is because I collect them. I keep my stuff in mint condition (or at the very least the condition a game was in when I bought it) and kept away from those who don't take care of things. Whenever I feel like playing a certain game, I go ahead and put it in and start playing it. Mind you, half of these are games you cannot simply rent anymore.
And I don't buy games to beat them -- I buy games to enjoy them.

Which company? did you like the services?
I was thinking to register with one company I have 3 in mind I don't know which one to choose from.
It happened to me many times. I would purchase a new release from Gamestop and for $60.00 and then they would buy it back for $25-$35. I don't want lose that much money. I think it is better to rent first make sure the game is worth my $$ and then buy it.
I am new to this chat, so I don't know if they consider that advertising. The 3 companies I know are GF, myGamexpress, and Gameflix...I just I don't which one is better. For fact, I know that GF have very bad reputations because it takes too long to send the games as for the other 2 I never heard of them.
By the way how is Burnout Paradise? I can't wait for Grand Theft to come out.

SwapGame - not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, so I'll err on the side of caution. I'm really happy with the service, best part is if I really like a game I can buy it to keep at a vastly reduced price, which is great. If a game is OK, I'll send it back, if it's a classic I'll keep it so that I can play it again, because I'm pretty much a collector of games too, much to the dismay of the gf :)

I've never been one to rent games, and to this day still don't. However, I am begining to question my theory on games. The past couple games I've purchased for the 360 I have simply beat and forgotten about. Games such as Assassin's Creed which don't offer online play, or other games which simply are too appealing for online play. More often than not these days games simply don't have replay value, or maybe I am simply changing as a gamer altogether. Either way, I don't think I will be making any purchases for awhile, and can't see many other games entering my library after GTA IV for abit. $60 is steep for a week or two worth of game play.

I have gamefly, So I can rent my one time through story games.
Unless i really like it then ill go out and just buy it. The new prices for games is too crazy for me to get every title when it releases though, so renting for the most part is better for me.

It's great, actually, and the new no-menu system works very well. I was really dubious about it before I got it, because I really liked the other Burnout games, but no, it's fantastic. It's so fundamentally different from the other games though, it could not be called Burnout at all and you wouldn't notice.
If you do an event and don't win, you kinda just shrug and move onto the next one. There's no real need to go back and do over events you fail because none of them are any more important than others. All that matters is you beat X events to move up to the next level. All that said though, it can get slightly repetetive just because of the way the game is now. No event is really unique and everything takes place in the same city. So not perfect, but overall a good game, and I'd recommend it.
