Yep, that was the turn off from me. I went from being highly interested, to not at all.
I just don't dig turn-based combat. It feels dated.

I love it. It gives me that nostalgic feel, turn-based RPGs used to be my favorites games.
I'm really liking this game. I'm about 2&1/2 hours in and I agree with everyone about how depressing it is. Some memories start out so peaceful and happy, and then of course he remembers the sadder side of the story. The combat and everything is very fun, I'm still figuring out skills and links and all that. I got the timing on hits down perfect, though ;).

That may be, but all black & white TVs are in black & white, which feels dated too.

I dunno... I think the FF series wouldn't be as good as it has been without turn based battle in their RPGs.
It just wouldn't be Final Fantasy any other way. :shrug:

It's not that the FF series wouldn't be as good, but it wouldn't be the same. FF12 took turn-based fighting out, and the game was awesome! But as with FF11, the game really lost its classic feel. The times they are a changin'.

More or less what I was trying to say the first time... thanks for clearing that up for me.
Back on topic, I have heard good things about this game. I just don't have enough time for an RPG. Not at this moment in time.

The main character dies in the first disc, you continue as the chick. By the third disc you get Cloud from FF7 in your party.
Kidding, but seriously get it. I'm playing it right now and I LOVE IT. And the music is so good btw.
