Video output problems
Sorry, I didn't know I couldn't post links...here's what i was trying to say. I apologize.

I've been having video problems as well. Every once in a long while I would get a single red light and a black screen with a message in every human language. I simply turn my 'box off and back on and it's gone. I don't know if it's related in anyway, but since it's not the 3-red ring of death, my waranty is void.

Everytime I turn my Xbox on it looks fine for about 5 minutes, then the colors begin to fade and becomewird looking. A couple minutes afterward my video goes completely Black and White. Then it begins to flicker on and off from BnW to Color slowly, and then very rapidly. I know it's not my AV Cables because I just bought new ones today and nothing changed. I know it's not my TV because my other gaming consols work just fine, pluss my Xbox has done this on other people's TVs.

It seems I have this problem in any game, or just sitting on my dashboard. I called customer support and went through all their stupid steps, most of which I already did before I called. Then the lady finally confirmed what i said, that my Xbox is messed up and needs repairs. However my warenty is void and they expect me to pay $99 to get it repaired!

Thanks a lot Microsoft, because of your tender loving care I get to play my games in Black and White untill my Xbox completely dies. If it wasn't for your stingy, money grubbin greedy ways...I might be forced to play in COLOR!

To the GAMERS who read the posts here: I propose we sign some patition to Microsoft to have them extend the waranties to ALL Xbox 360 consols which malfunction from normal wear-and-tear use. Those of us who have the Video Output problems are getting SHAFTED because we don't have the Red Ring of Death. If Microsoft fails to admit negligence in their design of the Xbox 360 and extend ALL waranties, I pray I get the RRoD so I don't have to pay MORE money to keep playing my, already expensive console.

I submitted a case to the BBB, please if any of you want to help in this case, we may be able to get Microsoft to extend our warranties for the Video Output problem gamers.

I could be wrong, but didn't Microsoft already extend everyone's warranty another year?

THey made all them a year total, they didn't add a year onto a 2 month old console.

Check and make sure you don't have it the switch on the back of the cables turn on to the HD setting.

I've done everything I could to fix this problem. My settings are fine, my cables are fine, my TV is fine, my TV settings are fine, I restored my Xbox's video settings to default by golding "Y" and "RT" at startup....I have to conclude that my Xbox is experiencing Video Output problems, like many people I've heard from on the internet.

If anyone has any simple solutions to fix this I'm all ears. Since my warranty is void, I have no problem opening my Xbox to do whatever is needed to fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

I tried to do some searching for you via Google and the Microsoft support forums but the only thing that I really found was to press and hold "Y" and "RT" at the start up screen, but you said you have already tried that.

I know paying $99 to get your xbox repaired sucks, but it sounds like it is going to be the cheapest way.

I don't see how the BBB is going to help in any way. You had a warranty and it expired, Microsoft isn't in the wrong by making you pay $99 to get your 360 fixed, but i agree it does suck.

I've owned a 360 since the day it came out. My first one went strong for just a month shy of 2 years when i first got the RRoD, luckily i had a 2 year warranty through BestBuy and they replaced my system.

This would be the first thing that I'd look for... my brother ran into a similar situation months ago, and it turned out to be exactly this reason why he was experiencing video problems.
