Convincing parents to let you buy M games?
My parents are a little bit overprotective.......
Screw that. They're not reading this.

My parents are incredibly overprotective. They hardly let me go out anywhere (and god forbid with a GIRL) and they always want to know what I'm doing. They barely let me see PG-13 movies even though I will be turning 14 shortly and are iffy on letting me buy teen games.

What I'm wondering is how exactly should I go about persuading them to let me buy mature games. Most of the 360's best games are rated M and I really can't stand missing out on them anymore. Obviously, I'm in a bit of a problem, and I was wondering if any of you guys could give me some tips? They would be greatly appreciated.

I was in that situation once. Do you have any older siblings? Or older friends, perhaps? Eventually my parents got me to a point where I really just had to say back the **** off. You probably don't want to let it get that far because now i don't get any support with anything. I'm 17 and I basically pay for everything I need or want. It's great to know that in 5 months when I turn 18 I'm automatically kicked out of the house, too. I guess I'm just saying keep the peace.
Anyway, the whole movie thing is ridiculous. I'd be more rebellious about that since you are technically allowed to see it. You are only 13 though and aren't supposed to be playing mature rated games anyway.

Wait...what? I'm sorry, but I didn't understand **** you said.

But anyway, here's what you do; Talk to your parents. Tell them to back off some, because living a sheltered life will eventually cause you to shoot up your school and or job. Tell them that you're growing up, and you think it's time to experience new things.

If that doesn't work, just straight up tell them to **** off.

i never had a problem buying mature titles at your age, but i had to know the right places. go to a larger store like Best Buy or Target (not walmart, they're corrupt) and see what you can do. if you go to smaller, game-specific retailers like GameStop, EB Games, etc, they are really strict on checking id's.

I have an older friend whos 14 and he can play mature games. I've talked to my parents about him a few times but they still say that his parents have different rules and all that jazz and I'm going to have to wait until I'm 15 or 16. But Thganks for the advice. I feel bad for you, man.

Now thats something I've never heard of. Oblivion does seem like a very good game. I'll look into that. Thanks.

Thanks, but I think I'm going to go for the approach of keeping the peace. But I have told them that if they never let me do anything, the time will come when I am legally allowed to and I'm going to go crazy (hopefully not shooting up the school crazy, lol) with getting the things that I was never allowed to have.

I was thinking of doing that and just putting the game in a different case, but then theres still the risk of them seeing me playing it or checking my games (which I really wouldn't put past them)

Thanks for all of the help everyone. I'll keep on trying!

Oh yea, my friends have said they're going to get me Halo 3 and Assassins Creed and COD4 and Bioshock and a whole bunch of M games for my birthday just to piss my parents off. That should go over well
