Two things are seriously wrong with this post.
1) They haven't
stayed true to a whole lot, really. Take DoC for example; they added on a bunch of crap (Omega/Chaos/Deepground) to the story that
a) wasn't in the original FFVII storyline and
b) wasn't needed to tie anything up in the original FFVII storyline. They just figured "
Oh, Vincent got a lot of attention from the fans, we should throw in a bunch of random plots into a game and center it around Vincent.". And now, all SQUARE is doing is expanding on the pointless crap they threw in for DoC (Deepground/Chaos/Omega) in Crisis Core.
2) A LOT needed to be explained in the story. The loose ends in the game were
what happened to the other characters, besides Red XIII, after the whole Meteor/Holy clash at Midgar?, and random tidbits about characters such as Zack, the CloudxTifaxAerith situation, Jenova, and character things, and
THAT'S what made FFVII as good as it was: it left the player thinking! It left players going "what-if?" and just thinking about all the crap that wasn't really 'thrown in your face' (and the Compilation is ruining this), like Cloud being a clone or a real person. If everything is answered (and I'm sure it's going to be), FFVII will lose a good chunk of it's fans that were there before all this "Compilation" crap, and leave the fanbase lingering with Cloud/Vincent/Sephiroth fanboys.
