There are SOME things that shoot "lasers"..like the BEAM rifle, and carbine..then other random things like the sword and gravity hammer.

And what's wrong with shields? It's the same exact thing as having health. Like Socom 2 for example, it took more than enough shots to kill someone(compared to Socom 1 and 3), but it was called health. In Halo it's called a shield. The only difference is the name itself and the fact that you can't always kill someone in 1 headshot only(except for a sniper)..but that's what makes this game a little different from the rest. Not to mention with these "shields" it involves more teamwork and strats to kill someone as opposed to just running around shooting people expecting them to die right away.

Most of the guns that fire lasers are alien weapons. Have you ever played Perfect Dark Scuba? I'm sure you have and if you didn't like that game then that would be a shock seeing as how it is one of the greatest games of all time but there are lasers and shields all through that game.

Halo 3 isn't a bad game to play, as long as it's in small doses or if you're with a bunch of your friends and you all sign into Live together or just have a 4-way multi player game going.

Go to the Bungie Weekly Update at bungie.net, and watch the two suicide videos near the bottom. Both are pretty funny, and if I admit anything halo is funny/good, then it is.

Never played the game. Halo has never and still does not interest me.
