Socom Confrontation screens dissected
I was bored, and looking at the new interviews and stuff for S:C at IGN. I noticed a few things in the screenshots. They don't show us any new areas of the map so far.

First one:

You can see a lot in this screen. The player character is standing on the red-room bridge. On his right is the outside diner, and to the left the area to the left of the bridge. This part seems mostly unchanged, with some minor obstacles altered. The plaza seems a bit more spacious, and the view to the bomb is not a straight line. The half-wall and Seal Deck (where the SEALs throw grenades from at the start of the round) are still there, although there seems to be an added umbrella somewhere around the half wall. The fishmarket bridge is still there, and the balcony in the area on the other side has been expanded length-wise. Some minor changes are present in the positioning of the tents and palm trees in the middle.

Second one:

This is the same scene, but at a different time and perspective. Basically just shows the red-room. The height on the wall attached to the bottom flight of stairs has been slightly increased. It looks like the small nootch in the fish stand could fit one crouching player, and could be a good camping spot if you're covering the bomb later in the round. The shells from the AKS-74 (looks like it to me) sit on the ground after being fired.

Third one:

Looking at the bomb-gazebo and Bell-tower. Not much here, but if you view the full size one, look above his front iron sights. It looks like the fishmarket was changed a bit, and is that a tent canopy? In any case it seems that the Fish market outcrops the market/middle a lot.

Fourth one:

Very interesting and confusing picture. Took me a bit to figure out it was taken from the terrorist spawn overlooking the left alley. You can clearly see the large fishmarket awning on the right, halfway up the picture. Same goes for the stairs people glitch in. They weren't lying when they said draw distance was improved, you can see all the way to the end of the alley. Once again the fishmarket has been altered. The arches on the left look like they have room to climb up on top. Random barriers added, but should not impede sniping too much from most positions. Pool added next to the building next to the terr spawn, and that building looks like it now wraps around to the useless stairs in the fishmarket alley. The awning on that building is pretty much gone, replaced by a useless one. Everyone has satellite TV.

Fifth one:

located next to terr spawn. It's under teh arches on the left side of the left alley. Random chairs added. terrorist has stopped firing, and shells still there.

Sixth one:

Same terrorist from last one. looking at terr spawn. Another barrier added to right alley. They added an arch to the building next to the terrorist spawn, and it looks like you can walk into it (the building). Not sure on that one though. If not, can still be used to lean around to shoot oncoming opponents.

Seventh one:

Location: The stairs in the fishmarket that lead to the SEALs right alley. I only know this because of the next picture, but if we didn't have one it could be found by process of elimination anyway.

Eighth one:

Same place as last picture, except a little farther back.

Other info found from screenshots:

Above your selected weapon on the HUD, it shows your total ammo remaining instead of the number of magazines. Also shows remaining grenades. The north on the compass seems to be replaced by a blur/arrow combination, unless that marks where the bomb is. Teammate names and inactive crosshairs are blue. Enemies, friendlies, and you show up on the radar. The map has been redone, but is similar to the old one (when i say similar, i mean ~, the geometric term).

Nice post, man... yeah, I saw (some of) these pics in the new issue of EGM. And I have to admit, Socom looks a whole lot better with some next-gen hardware "paint" slapped on it.

Should be a fun game once it comes out!

I was doing some detective work on these pics when I saw them as well. I felt like Sherlock Holmes, Nerd Boy Wonder.

But you went more in depth with your investigation, so I pass the title onto you.

Great post man, thanks for all of the information. If there was a reputation button, I would definitely give you +REP! Also, whats up with the red dots on the map? Do they only show up when you shoot?

Those screen shots do look very good. Thank god my brother is going to be getting a PS3 tomorrow.

Thanks to whoever moved this. Theres like one more in the Action/shooter forum if you wanna be a peach and get that one too

I wonder what parts of their clothing can be changed, or used for a clan?
Maybe that patch on the one SEALs right shoulder...
IDK, I'm excited about that aspect of the game (clan customization)
