I wasnt arguing with you, I was just letting you know that, there will 99% most likely be just as many problems, a black case doesnt fix the hardware problems.

Okay... let's keep this on topic. If you'd like to discuss the pros and cons of the Xbox 360 Elite system, then create a thread on it.
This thread is for singing the "red ring of death" blues...

Scorp, don't mind Zero. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being an absolute Xbox fanboy, Zero is about a 2 or a 3. He's got isssues with the box, and righfully so.
You're very adamant about the Elite not being prone to the same hardware failures as the other 360s. What are you basing this statement on? Do you have a link to support it? I'm not trying to bust your balls, but I've been following the Elite closely, and you are the first I've heard these statements from.
Creep, since we pretty much had the exact same issue, I'm wondering what demos you recently downloaded? Just before mine crashed I had just downloaded the mini-golf game, Monster Madness and C & C 3. The first time the freeze of doom happened, was while my wife was playing Viva.
I'm wondering if the demos had anything to do with it.
Just an FYI: MS told me on 4/27 they'd send me a box. I just got it this Monday, 5/14. I had it shipped to my work so no one would need to sign for it.

For my 3rd repair I had just downloaded the Mini Golf Demo. After the download I selected Play Now and the demo started loading and half way through froze. Right then, I knew what was going to happen next . I'm no Tech-head by any means, but could it be corrupted data from the downloads that are causing the Red Rings ??

I haven't downloaded a demo since Shrek the Third, which was several weeks ago. Mine just started acting funky on Monday night, when I tried loading up a game of Guitar Hero 2... it even did the same thing after that, when I was just browsing through the dashboard.
Similar symptoms, yet different reasons "why"... very odd.

Most of you know what I do, so you can probably tell I've been trying to figure this bit of it out.
I wouldn't say it's the demo itself that could cause problems. I mean, it's just add-on software. It could be making updates to the system registry that are corrupted by some means.
It could be process and configuration files being corrupted during the download itself. Usually you're doing different things while downloading stuff. So digital wires could be getting crossed somewhere.
I figure it's kinda like the old "do not remove memory card of turn off system" while saving bit. If you did you would likely corrupt vital files, and brick the whole card.

I am a fanboy of VIDEO GAMES not of a company, or hardware. So I cant be classified as a Sony, Microsoft, or a Nintendo fanboy. I love the games for xbox 360, and there are sooo many more to come. But, the company, hardware, community, etc etc is what I dont like and when people start coming here praising microsoft and the 360 with false facts, it annoys me.
And anyways, has anyone ever figured out why the 360 has so many hardware failures, it is still a complete mystery?

And that's what gives value to your opinions, no matter how brash they can be .

Just, for reference, Xbox 360 Elite Problems
I'm having pretty much the same problem as you are Creep. I ordered up my box, the 6th. I was supposed to get it today, but they called and made up the same excuse they gave somebody else here. "Their shipping is backlogged" You'll probably get a call from them saying that as well.
My system can play demos still, (the first time it froze, I was playing the Crackdown demo) but if I have to load more than zooming through the dashboard, it crashes. (sometimes loading up another mission like in Lost Planet demo makes it freeze) I'm just waiting on my box, and from what whomever said, it'll probably get here in another 1-2 weeks.
And, in all seriousness, if you have the 3 red lights, wrap your 360 in a towel, and then leave it on for 15 minutes, then let it cool for 15 minutes. I've heard and seen that it works wonders.
