I like to have it stood up because I can put my controller and my headset on the top to make them look better. (Joke, but I do put them up there)

Well, you should already know this....but just a piece of advice:
Leave your 360 horizontal,it's not good for the disc to be sitting upright/vertical.You also won't have to worry about any of your games being ruined because it's not easy for it to fall while laying horizontal

Mines vertical, I can't say that i care enough to put it down. If my PS2 can handle it then my 360 can.

Meh, it's already destroyed my games so I will put it horizontal once I get a new game. Right now I don't want any new games so it's staying like it is for a while.
I am moving house soon so, space permitting, I may lay it down somewhere cool.
I knew all along it would destroy them slowly, but it used to freeze when it was layed down because of the bad ventilation. As it stands vertical, there is a lot less surface area touching the table it sits on so there is more ventilation.

Ventilation is another thing to consider, but as long as the 360 doesn't have alot of machines around it,and it isn't in a confined area,it will be fine vertical or horizontal.

I used to have mine right on top of the main unit of my surround sound. The heat from the two systems combined could cook an egg. (Joke...... it could only cook burgers. )
The biggest problem I have with my 360 is my Saints Row game freezes about 10 minutes into the game on the first time you play it in a day, and my COD3 disk is totally wrecked. I know that isn't my 360 itself, but whatever.
I was thinking about getting a USB fan (usually used for laptops) to use on my 360 but it's $40 which is pretty retarded to spend on something that doesn't need fixing.

What the hell is a USB fan? with that idea, you could just buy an intercooler instead.

ThinkGeek :: Fly Fan USB Fan
I believe this is the same as the one I was looking at, not from the same site though. It's basically a fan that is powered by the USB port of the 360. (Hense USB fan)
I don't want the intercooler because it is known to cause more risk for the console, I am not risking using something like that and having to send my 360 back to MS for repairs.

Not that it matters, but the USB fan is really ugly and I doubt it works better than the Intercooler.I heard about the Intercooler problems too, someone said it causes more problems than it cures.
But to rule out all these things,I'm just gonna buy an Elite when I have enough money.

I wouldn't put an intercooler on there, well at least the Nyko one, unless you wanna fry your xbox. Any of the ones that plug into the USB port and use that for power are the way to go. And can I ask you as to why you think that the Elite is some magical 360? Every "punchline" of yours is Elite this Elite that. Buying the Elite will not rule out any of these problems, you just get a prettier box to look at while you wait to send it out for repairs. If it looks like an xbox, smells like one, and tastes like one (dont know why you would lick it),its going to break like one.
