Well i wrote this for a friend of mine, so i figured i'd post it up right here. Most of it is common knowledge, but i figured id throw it up just incase it helps anyone.

Camping

The challenge to camping is that you have to find a spot that is covered on three sides of you. (If you're camping alone) so there is only one way a guy can come at you. Then you play the patience game. You have to wait it out, if you get draws, so be it. The enemy will get impatient and come to you eventually. When they do you jump out and ambush them. Again I use the three and out rule, use the same spot no more then three rounds and then switch spots. The enemy will catch on to your sneaky tactics.

While camping gun choices are vital, you want a gun that has some range, that you can stick a suppressor on. You probably should grab a few nades and some double ammo too. You dont wanna run out of ammo when you have two or more enemies lined up. Plus you want to shoot in bursts if the enemy is 10+meters away, but if he is less than 10m then you should probably just go full auto.

Rushing

There are a lot of key components to a rushing plan. Each of them is important to really attack quickly and effectively. The best thing in a rushing attack is to rush with more then one player. Instead of rushing into two or more enemies by yourself you have a buddy who can help you out.

Make sure that when you are rushing as little of your body as possible is showing. You don't want to give away your surprise attack or get plugged by a sniper. Also you want to get behind the enemy when you rush, and don't rush the same area more then three times. Its my three and out rule. The enemy will catch on eventually. So rush that spot 3 rounds, then switch it up.

Grenades- If you carry any grenades then only carry two of them. While you are running try and throw them in closed areas in the direction of the enemies spawn. (I.E. On killing fields if i were at spawn 2 i would throw a grenade towards the door of their spawn 2.) Throwing too many grenades can just slow you down.

2X ammo-You definitely have to get the double ammo if you are gonna rush. If you rush with only one clip you are probably gonna run out of bullets fast, and thats not good. Plus you can shoot a little bit more freely and be confident that you will have enough clips.

Snipers-You have to be aware of those snipers. If you noticed while they shoot at you, listen for where it comes from and where the red line by your crosshairs points too. Then you can rush the sniper while hes in his scope. Then ambush him. That will save your team a lot of trouble if you take out an enemy sniper.

Rushing
Yeah my 2x ammo days went out with S2. Its too heavy.Id rather just pickup a dead guys gun/find ammo on a body its much better.I find when rushing you want to be as light as possible.This makes equipment choices vital.Pick a gun based on the topography of the map(machine gun=closed in,assault rifle=wide open etc.)As far as grenades Im a grenade whippin' dude but if Im really gunna run&gun I just carry smoke.Its good to cover your escape and has hardly any weight to it.

If nades are on dont get 2x ammo, if they arent on then get it. I know thats off topic but who cares.

I know. In s2 when you could have 2 sets of 3 grenades AND another slot, double ammo was the way to go. And because people sponged like hell in that game.

In s3, all the guns shoot the same, and none of them have any noticable recoil. If you can't kill a guy or 2 rushing with guns like this, stop playing. You shouldn't need 2x ammo when you're rushing. If you NEED 2x ammo, it probably means you spray and just generally suck.

When you rush you need to lay a blanket of grenades infront and behind where you want to rush. Since you only have 4, use advantage of the fact that nades are bouncy balls and will fly off walls. If you're rushing tricky places, throw some well placed nades while on the run off of walls.

Normally when I rush I plan on rushing, taking out a minimum of 2 guys, but I always hope for 2-4, and die while doing so. So you need to be a good nader on the run, and be able to aim and use your gun effectively. On top of everything, you need to do it fast, not using 5 clips to kill 1 guy in a gunfight. You need to kill the enemy, and move on quickly.

Example of what I like to call my Kamikaze rush of deathly pwness: antenora terrs (nades on). You grab a 9mm sub, rifle laser is optional, no SD. F57, and 4 nades. Nades on quick2.

Step 1: Get the above selection
Step 2: Pray for a good spawn near door
Step 3: Rush out the door and rush middle throwing 1 nade infrotn of you and dropping the rest at your feet. NEVER shoot someone unless you're out of nades, which rarely you live to see. Usually 2-3 guys go middle, you throw nades at your feet and just run and strafe towards their spawn from the middle you're GAURANTEED at least 1-2 guys.

I've made it a couple times, after killing 3 in middle by kamikaze, I've made it into their spawn and killed 2 more with 9mm sub. That's 5 guys in a small map, then your team kills the remaining 3.

Another good rushing map was cit terrs.

You throw 1 nade over the big middle bridge
2 over on the left onto their left below terr small roof
1 over on right into that opening w/ the small arches

Then you just rush straight down the middle into their spawn and decide what to do from there. If you have 2x ammo, not only can you not kill as many guys from nades, but it weighs you down and you spend too long in gunfights. Just kill the guy in your gunfight quickly and move on and keep pushing on and not stopping.

Nothing is worse than playing against a really good clan of rushers or something. Well, ok, a clan of campers is worse but w/e

Let's fanatasize for 1 second that we're in a war with minimal camping. While you're still throwing grenades, I'm always WAY past where you nades are hitting, and I'm right in your face and kill you and some others while you throw your nades. Then I pick up some nades from your corpse, run into a group of your clanmates somewhere still throwing nades or getting to their destination, and I run STRAIGHT at them throwing nades at my feet, usually killing 1 or 2 more.

Then imagine that as 3/4 of my team you're playing against. It sucks and catches you off gaurd like none other.

Obviously you can't use this every round but DAMN is it effective the first round, or if you're up a ton of guys/rounds after camping a while, or if you're down tons of rounds and want to go out with a bang.

Even in S2 you shouldn't need 2x ammo that much. With an M16, no need, it has the extra clip already. With an M4, don't worry, there's ammo to pick up. Same with an STG/552. The only gun I ever took 2x ammo with was the AK, because you can't always count on someone packing an RA.

@Topic

There is never a need for double ammo in Socom 3/3.5. If you need 2x ammo in this game, you sorely need to fix your aim. Even in a 16v16, you don't need double ammo. IF you manage to spray enough to run out of ammo, (and can't pick any up, which is incredibly rare) just grab someone elses gun. There is never a need to weigh yourself down and lose 2 grenades.

I ALWAYS take double ammo with an RA-14 on big maps, and sometimes on small maps...
