One Reason

Recently I have been tempted to buy a Xbox 360; with games like Gears of War and Rainbow 6 Vegas out its hard to resist. There is only one reason I won't allow myself to buy one, and that is Metal Gear Solid 4. I have been planning on saving up untill next year when MGS4 comes out and buying a Playstation 3 then but with all these great 360 games out, a 360 is looking better every day.

I have a Wii but I still plan on buying another console next year when I have a job. The 360 seems like the logical choice but I know I would miss playing MGS4. There have been talks about a ported version of MGS4 to the 360 but I won't believe it untill its offically announced.

The reason I am posting this thread is to ask this question. Is it silly for me to turn down a system that has some supberb titles because there is another system with just one better one? I am sure that Playstation 3 will have some other great titles out by then too but who knows.

I know this type of question has been posted before but if anyone could give me advice on what they think it would be greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't deprive (sp?) yourself you such a great system just because of one game. The 360 has so many high quality games that you'll most likely forget about MGS4. PS3 may put out some other good games, but I highly doubt any will be superior to Gears of War. There isn't much of a difference between the 360 and PS3 graphic wise, so you won't be missing out on anything special. The 360 offers the classic LIVE service which has always come out on top in the online gaming department.

In addition to LIVE you get to play with people such as myself, Libertine, Negative Creep, Jakkmove and Bigmike. Just too name a few of course.

I'll tell just about anyone that I think the Xbox 360 is worth the price of ownership just about for the two games that you mentioned alone!

And I've posted about it in a different thread... MGS4 will more than likely be ported onto the Xbox 360. The information that I've heard said that it was reported that Konami's HMFIC (Head Mutha-F***a In Charge) told Hideo Kojima that MGS4 will also be an Xbox 360 title... I suppose it's entirely possible that it will launch first on the PS3, so I'm not getting my hopes up in the hopes of having a simultaneous launch on both consoles.

Everything that BAMF already posted about playing games with several other regs from the VGF forums is yet another good reason to "join up" with the rest of us Xbox 360 playas... it seems like there are more and more of us from the forums getting on XBL every so often.

And I must admit, nine times out of ten, it's MAJOR fun playing online with people from these forums!

DeBOG, I know what you're saying. I'm a huge MGS fan, have every one of the PS games. I had some of the same feelings as you, but I went with the 360 for now.

The thing is, MGS4 is the last Metal Gear game. Hideo's been saying that for over a year now. I'm sure he wants to and will come up with something new yet similar, but this is the last big Metal Gear.

Get a 360. You'll be happy.

I agree... besides, MGS4 should be making its way on the 360 sometime in the future.

I'll be happy playing Gears of War, Rainbow 6 Vegas, Splinter Cell Double Agent, etc, etc. until that's released (MGS4)... so I have no room to complain.

Creep: I have the same amount of anticipation as you do. I cant wait for xmas, I want R6:V soo bad.

Also, I think that MGS4 will be ported to 360. Look at the Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii, Snake is in the game. Sony lost most of their exclusive titles. And Microsoft is garnering alot of clout in the market, regardless of the headstart or not. They are actually thinking outside the box and trying new and different things, whether good or bad. Now with rumors floating around and Sony saying themselves that this will be their last console, it seems rather disperaging(sp?) for their future. I can only hope that they start churning out more choice games and soon, Q1 '07 shows 360 releasing some killer games. Just look at some of the amazing games that are yet to come Lost Planet, Halo 3, Bioshock (cant wait, looks so awesome and its predecessor is probably the best FPS/eerie game ever), etc... There's so many titles coming to the 360 and exclusively its rediculous. LEt's not forget about Crackdown, GT4(not exclusive but yea, sim. launch), Too Human, Mass Effect... The list goes on. Microsoft has really poised themselves well this time, and its mostly due to their software, hopefully Sony, can do the same as they always have. Deliver quality games. If not Microsoft will no doubt garner the majority of the market or clost to it. And none of this even mentioned XBLA games.
