Day / Night Option

What are everyone's feelings regarding them getting rid of the night / day option setting? I know that some people are partial to either one or the other and therefore play only one or the other the majority of the time. But that was the beauty of the "OPTION". Personally I enjoyed playing both night and day maps. I thought it added a little variety and was a little upset when I found out they took away that OPTION. Even for the people that preferred to play either one or the other they had the OPTION to just set it as all day or all night or whatever. Why did CA get rid of this option if what I have heard is true about them removing it?

This makes NUN-PUNCHER very sad

I like to play Night Maps during the Day, and Day Maps during the Night.

I'm just glad to have New Maps, I'm sure the Night and Day factor won't bother me for a while. I don't see alot of people gettin upset over it.
I'm still fiending for Weather Options. Maybe it was just a timimg issue .?.?

Yeah, maybe me being "upset" was a poor choice of words.....I just wish they would have kept that option in the game. You mentioned weather.....NOW THAT WOULD BE A GREAT OPTION to add. But I think you would have the same people that don't like night or day complaining about rain and snow vs no rain and snow. I would be all for it myself though.

Take it a step further. Aside from the breach points.......what about destruction in the environment. Example.......you throw enough grenades or shoot enough bullets at a wall......the wall is then damaged or destroyed.......same thing with bridges or whatever. That is probably asking way too much though......maybe that is something better suited for the all-powerful PS3.

There was a Game for the PS2 that came out a while ago called " Red Faction ". I believe it was one of the first games to come out, that actually had In-Vironment Destruction. That game came out a while ago I'm surprised it hasn't been fined tuned and used more often.

I would love to have a bunch of people camping in a Building on Socom and place a C4 on the wall to blow a chunk out of a Concrete wall and Say Hi !!! It's Me

Having the option to do those things was great, but hardly anyone ever used the Night option, so it's not that big of a deal for me.

I too would like to see Weather options, but that wom't be happening anytime soon. And if they do bring back this option (daytime/nighttime) they should add a few more, like sunrise and dusk, just to give it more "flavah".

I dont mind the change because i heard the maps were going to have better graphics, since they dont have to make it look good at both day and night.

I had that game ( back in the day ). It was the geo Mod engine, and it seemed cool for about 10 minutes. I tried to tunnel through areas of the board with the rocket launcher, and after about the 5th rocket in the same spot the damage stopped in that area. It seemed that they had certain obvious areas where a rocket could knock down a wall, ( but that is almost the same as c4 on a breach in socom ). I do agree with you that it is surprising that this game engine was never taken to the next level.

i always thought s3 night maps looked like pispore porage they were allways to bright and i never liked how the caves were natural lighted i always thought that the caves should be pich black and have to be lighted by light bulbs and if you shot them out u would have to use nvg. but i think the maps will look better at night on sca since there is no option and they aren't just darkend versions of the same map at day

I don't see how that has any bearing because I'm pretty sure that night setting & night vision are just different filters applied to your view. I could be wrong though, but it'd be really inefficient for them to create two different sets of graphics for day/time settings.

I for one am displeased that the day/night settings won't be on S:CA maps. Being able to change that setting is a drastic & dynamic way to make the map different.

Take Stormfront for example. Daytime = super snipefest right? Set that baby on Night and it's anyone's game.

It can go either way for me..I didn't mind playing night maps, the only thing I can't stand about them is how everyone leaves the room when a night map comes up.

But then again, some maps are a lot better played in daytime as opposed to night time. Think Socom 1 Abandoned, and then Socom 2 Abandoned. Which did people like more, S1 or the S2 version? You'll probably get most of your answers "S1", which was a daytime setting. The map just played that much better in day compared to night.

Now, imagine playing Nightstalker in daytime. It would probably be a totally different game than what it is..
