Yeah, for the first month or so, that the game came out, I made at least half a dozen calls to Zipper, along with many e-mails to them about the verification deal. Because at the time, I didn't have my own credit/debit card. Eventually, I gave in and got a debit card (more because I needed one anyways, but it also let me use the game in full).

Over the years though, different systems, and games have tried to do different things like that. Think back to Nintendo 64, with the game Donkey Kong 64....you needed to buy the expansion pack to play that game all the way through, completely. A few other games tried to do that, but eventually gave in, and got rid of that whole "Expansion Pack Needed" bs.
Zipper though, had good intentions for the reasons they did it though. The game is rated Mature, and yet there were little kids always playing it. So they put in the verification, thinking that parents wouldn't let their 10 year old kids play the game then. But what happens? Mommy and Daddy give in, and give their kids their credit cards (or the little dumbass kids just take the card) and poof, the game is overrun with little kids again. Either that, or Zipper wants to feel like they got a little tiny bit of control over people, so they throw that in to make us jump through hoops to play their game. Their game that really isn't that good anyways....but then again....when was the last time a really really good online game came out? (that wasn't sports related?)
