The Godfather (Xbox/360)
Has anyone else played this game yet?
I purchased a copy of the "limited edition" disc (only $49 US) for my Xbox before I left for Las Vegas on March 23rd.
In the short amount of time that I played it that night, I have to admit that it was pretty damn good. The whole extortion angle of the game is something new & fresh... and from what I can remember, the fist fighting/grappling was original too. (Definitely better than the fighting system in "Getting Up".)
I agree with the ratings I have seen so far... a score of 7 or 8 out of 10 sounds fair to me. Time to go play it some more.

your looking at Don Corleone. i like it, its different. they need to work on buildings, inside and out, they're all the same. all compounds are the same, and all inside of the clubs, stores, barbers, etc. are all the same. and only like 4 different kind of cars sucks, i know there wasnt that much back then, but i think theres more than 4.

But there's just something fun when a game allows you to choke people dead... slapping them upside the head for "protection" money is fun, too!
The stores & businesses are close to being the same "looking"... I wouldn't say that they're carbon copies of each other. Besides, we're talking about the 1940-1950s... it's not like they had convenient stores & such.

Thank you, Captain Obvious... two of us have already stated words to this effect.
And getting back on topic... how far along is everyone (that plays the game)??? Last time that I played (several nights ago), I was somewhere around having my gangsta (LoL) around a level 21. Somewhere around that... and I incited some huge gang war against the "red" clan... I forget their names.
All things considered, I'm digging this game!!!!

I'm loving Godfather right now. I've finished the story missions, and I'm busy blowing up all the compounds. Right now, I've completely destroyed the Tattaglias, and I've taken over New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Little Italy.
It's a pretty good game. A lot of new gameplay ideas in this game, such as extorting businesses and taking over rackets. I love being able to hold people up at gunpoint and force them to give me "protection" payments.
Anyone get the upgrades to the guns? Right now, I have the assassin pistol and the automatic shotgun, and they're bad-***. Gotta love all those execution moves, too.

Yeah, I did... the Assassin's Pistol was the first upgrade that I purchased, and I loved the game even more after I had that particular gun.
I feel bad for losing interest in the game after getting my 360, but I'll just wind up renting "The Godfather" for the 360 once it finally arrives in stores later this summer.

^^^BUMP^^^
Well... I had some extra "credit" saved up with Gamestop/EB Games, so I picked up a copy of this last week for Xbox 360.
First thing I have to say is... "WOW!"
What a friggin improvement, when compared to the Xbox version that I played months ago! Obviously, the graphics have been overhauled... but there are several others tweaks that EA made for the 360 version. You're now able to "hire" Corleone family members (just like GTA or Saints Row) to aid you in completing missions, some of the storyline has been tightened up, the game's intro is slightly different, different car makes have been added, certain store owners ask you for "favors" before they pay your family to "protect" their storefront, etc etc.
Definitely worth a rental for those that aren't really into this kind of game.
I think it's at least two points higher than what I originally thought of the earlier released Xbox/PS2 version...
Way to go EA... I can now see why it wasn't available at the launch for the Xbox 360.

I am glad they made it for 360. I was questioning if they were going to do it. I will definnately get this game here in the next couple of weeks. The game looks really good and well put together.
