Hollywood Video Scratch Guards
I just made another failed atemptto rent Fight Night Round 3 again, so I decided to give Ghost Recon: AW a try. So, I get up to the Checkout and the lady asks me if I want to add a " Scratch Guard " to my Ghost Recon disc as an insurance policy for .25 Cents and if something should happen to the Disc I would not be at Fault. This Enrages Me................
Wow ....What a Smart Marketing Ploy....
They make .25 Cents a Disc for each scratch Guard and if someone refuses and returns an already scratched disc that was scratched before their " Scratch Guard " revolution , they have no arguement with Hollywood Video charging the Renter for the Whole New Disc. Then Hollywood Video will say to the customer refusing to purchase the .25 Cent Scratch Guard, " You should have just paid the .25 Cents and You would'nt have been in this situation.
So either way they make .25 Cents extra per disc or receive the Full Amount Money for a whole new Disc.
HEY, HOLLYWOOD VIDEO KISS MY ARSE AND PUT AN ARSE GUARD ON FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember the good old days where to rent a video game it was Five bucks and you rent ohhh say 25 games and get a dollar off your 26th Rental. I don't mean to sound petty over .25 cents, but I have a Big Problem with the general public being ripped off and taken advatage of. I will cancel my membership upon the games return. They should put Scratch Guards on the Disc at no cost to the Customer. Time to check out NetFlix

This is why I rent from Blockbuster and/or steal from Wal-Mart. Damn companies and their cheapness.

Have they tried to make you pay for the entire disc?
Or are you fabricating a story, thinking that they'll charge you for the disc if theres a scratch?
I mean, "Scratch Guard" is nice, especially with the whole XBOX360 deal with the scratch hell.
If it pains you that much, take a picture of the disc, and find scratches on it before you even leave the store.

That only happens when the user is dumb. It's not the system, it was from people flipping it from horizontal to vertical while it was playing.

yeah , that's bs they should put scratch guard on for free that way they will keep the discs in good condition, which means more rentals for them and they will be able to resell it.

Blockbuster & Wal-Mart are on my "never walk inside one of their stores" list... last time I was inside of a Wal-Mart was when the PS2 launched. Most likely, that will be my LAST visit inside one of their dumps.
For renting games, only GameFly is the best (in my opinion).

I'm not fabricating a story, all I'm saying is that they're charging .25 cents a disc, so the customer can feel free and clear of not damaging a disc, and if they don't want the scratch guard they are subject to pay for a disc that may OR may not have been damaged by that person.
You may think that by me posting this thread was a reason for me to whine, when all I'm trying to do is clue Video Gamers onto something that I feel is a straight up money making scheme. Twenty Five Cents per disc per person across the whole United States can generate some $$$$$$. ANy idiot knew right from the beginning that DVD's & CD's in Video Stores were going to be scratched all to H3ll. It does'nt pain me in anyway and if I took a picture of a Disc before I walked out the door I would really feel like an idiot. It used to be that loyal customers got rewarded in general for being a frequent shopper. Nowadays everything you want has extra charges here and there and they want to milk you anyway they can. That's what pains me.

This is why I really never rent video games. I would hate to have to pay $50+ for a tiny scratch. If I want to try a game out, I'll go buy a used game from my GameStop, and return it within a week if I beat it or don't like it. Then I get my full money back. It's pretty much renting, except in a way it's free. I like it, Gamestop will take the disc back for anything.
