I'm looking for a good RPG on my 360 (don't say Lost Odyssey, it sucked) that isn't one of the big three being Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Fable 2. Don't get me wrong, I loved 'em and beat them all, but I'm looking for something to hold me over until Final Fantasy XIII. Any suggestions?

I'm the one who steps from the shadows, all trenchcoat and cigarette and arrogance, ready to deal with the madness. Oh, I've got it all sewn up. I can save you. If it takes the last drop of your blood, I'll drive your demons away. I'll kick them in the bollocks and spit on them when they're down and then I'll be gone back into darkness, leaving only a nod and a wink and a wisecrack. I walk my path alone... who would walk with me?
Well if Lost Odyssey sucked then I don't know what to tell you. Oblivion and Fallout 3 would be all I could tell you from experience. My brother tried Last Remnant and he has played RPGs for a long time now (FF series since 7) and can't get into it. It may just be that he's grown out of RPGs since he plays shooters more now but I don't know if it's any good. Seemed very confusing when I saw a little bit of it
Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Overlord, and Fable 2 I would give a try. Too Human and Two Worlds were alright, but Too Human has quite a bit of difficulty issues with it, and Two Worlds just got too boring too fast. Oh, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope might be good.
If you can't suffice with those games, then I would just wait until Final Fantasy XIII comes out. If you still have issues, then I don't know what to say. Unless you would like to do some classic runs and download Xbox Live games.
Too Human was... meh. Two Worlds was complete shit. Blue Dragon is good, Enchanted Arms isn't bad. Mass Effect is teh winz.
Of the two, I'd say go with Infinite Undiscovery. It was nothing special, but was decent enough while it lasted. The Last Remnant was just pure, uncompromising grind from beggining to end. The story was probably better than IU, and I suppose if you enjoy the grind it's worth a try, but it just wasn't for me.
If you didn't like Lost Odyssey I'm not sure you'll enjoy any of the JRPGs listed, they're all pretty similar.
Can't go wrong with Mass Effect. Though... it'll only hold you over for a month at most. And any good RPG/shooter gamer will be on the fourth or fifth play through by then.
I think that the plots of The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery were very laking in plot. Not very imaginative. Thats what you look for in a square enix game. So i would recommend devil may cry or Metal Gear Solid if they count.
Well I have played Infinite Undiscovery yet, but with my time playing The Last Remnant... it's not very fun :\ you spend your time doing more side quests than anything because the main story is hard to get through, especially when they take away most of your teammates and leave you with only 1 then you have to level them up with countless hours of grinding just to get past that part. The story itself is good as well as the characters like David, but in my opinion... only buy this game if you find it cheap.
I would Have to Agree With Everyone Above: The Last Remnant Is Kind of Cool As that it has a Unique Battle System unlike any other RPG I have Played and is Very Complex But there are alot of things that will Get on Your Nerves. For Some Reason Has a Lot Of LAGS which gets annoying too. Infinite Discovery I have Not Played but Also Seemed Cool but i haven't got a chance to play. Mass Effect is a Really Good One Very Complex Game. This Game Has A Really Good Story To it. and Of course there is the New Borderlands that just came out Recently If you like a shitload of guns and shoot em up type RPG's then go for it. Star Ocean reminded me of more for the younger age group because of all the lame jokes there is some lame shit in that game lol but i don't know you may like the sense of humor. I felt like a little kid playing it.
I've played and gotten 100 percent complete on both of those games and i must say that The Last Remnant was FAR better. Despite the graphical and technical flaws, which are HARDLY gamebreaking, it is an excellent game. At least 100 to 150 hours of play to get everything. Hardly any micro-managing your characters (which is good considering you can recruit a ton of unique characters) and the battle system is very well done once you actually learn it. But i will say this, there is a STEEP learning curve and hardly any in game explanation of the battle system or noteworthy tutorials. But the battle system is very deep and complex. Also if you like a challenge go for this one, The Last Remnant is one of the hardest RPG's ive ever played and ive never been so on the edge of my seat while playing a game as i was in a good nmber of battles in this game.
Infinite Undiscovery on the otherhad is just very...medicore, and thats probably giving it too much credit. Granted it did have potential but every aspect of the game is the very definition of sloppy. The story is so underdeveloped and rushed it will onlt take about20 hours to beat, 30 if you do the sidequests, which you're never given any actual reward for anyways even if you do a few of them. The world map is large and bland and your forced to run through every area over and over as there isnt a fast travel option. The voice acting and lip synching range from cringe worthy to almost acceptable and it doesnt help that the characters all walking cliches and COMPLETELY uninteresting. Now the battle system is...just...bad. Very clucnky and unresponsive controls, almost impossible to pull off a real combo because of this. Its nothing more than a glorified button masher that will reduce you to spamming the smae move over and over at the end of the game because it does and absurd amount of damage and its impossible to block. Now, that all being said...you can get it for very cheap now and while i have no really good things to say about it i do have to say that i had a good enough time while i was playing through it and its definitely more of a casual type of RPG than The Last Remnant so if your just lookin for a little diversion that you can blow through than this would be the better choice.
Also, if you've played Lost Odyssey and think it sucks than...i dont know what to tell you because that is easily one of the top 3 JRPG's this console generation, along with The Last Remnant and Tales of Vesperia.
Sorry for the double post but i figured i would chime ion on some of the other games as well. if you are looking for JRPG's than games like Oblivion (which is great) or Mass Effect which really wasn't too good, despite all the rave reviews, or even Fallout, also a terrible game, are not fonna be good. True JRPG's are very scarce these days.
Blue Dragon was just bad. Dumb story and art and character design. EXTREMELY boring and redundant battle system. Not even worth taking of it was free.
Star Ocean is supposed to have an amazing battle system but from what I've played of it i was not impressed. It was unresponsive and clunky but was clearly the best part of the game, which should tell you the actual quality.
Enchanted Arms i havnt played yet so no opinion on that one.
Eternal Sonata looks and sounds amazing, but the story is really lame and immature. The battle system is fun at first but about midway through the game you will realize how redundant and boring it is. Its too short and linear and just not really worth playing at all.
Magna Carta 2 was ok. It wasnt great, but it was better than all of the ones ive just mentioned. Its pretty much one big cliche as the story goes tho.
The battle system in last remnant takes some getting used to. Its not your typical menu...it took me a week to figure out how to use it. but other then that it's pretty fun.(Though the main character reminds me WAY too much of Tidus from FFX...In that he's an obnoxious loser with horrible social skills.)
You might try Tales of Vesperia, if you haven't already. The Tales games are a nice series.
I haven't played many rpg's on the 360 only, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vespera, Last Remnant, and Fable 2.
