The last installment in this fantastic series has a release date of February 24th in the US.
Whenever I heard "Star Ocean," I would think of an expansive adventure taking place across several worlds across the galaxy, but this is never how it turned out when I played Till the End of Time or First Departure. The Last Hope, however, is proving to be very different from its successors, giving the player the ability to actually control his or her own ship and land on at least five different planets or other destinations visited via spacefaring. This, to me, sounds absolutely amazing compared to the other games in the series, and with the return of private actions, we will have those multiple endings to strive for.
Some other new features are the Rush gauge which gives the player a pre-emptive strike in a battle or allow him or her to use a certain ability or special attack, the latter sounding much like the Fury gauge in Till the End of Time; we are unsure as to how it really works, though; and the Sight In/Sight Out system in which the player can leave an enemy targeting them open to a counter attack by leaving their line of sight. It doesn't sound too special, but there may be more to it than just these words.
I don't know what everyone on the GameFAQs The Last Hope forums was complaining about, but the style of the characters' looks is wonderful -- A LOT better than that of Till the End of Time.
i wont compare it to till the end of time or even the tales series, but the battle system is alot more robust, and just way more advanced in every way. After i saw some battle movies, i was hooked. i want this game so bad like wows, but i have wanted it since announcement so maybe im just exaggerating

To answer your question on why they were complaining, it's because they're too "anime like".
I'm not sure why, but even if they enjoyed SOTET, the anime feel on it seems to be turning them away. I guess you can say they're just those random anime haters. Ignore them. I've dealed with one of them already, he made no sense. =/
Other then that, I can't WAIT for this game. I really want it to come out for the PS3 as well, though. Since I am planning on purchasing a PS3 in due time. I can't really get it for the 360 since it will most likely burn out on me(I'd get hooked xD).
Although, I wouldn't really say the artwork is better then SOTET's. I still kind of prefer SOTET over The Last Hope, still.

From what I've seen, The Last Hope looks so so much better than Till the End of Time to me. SOTET's graphics aren't as appealing to me.
As for hoping for it to be released on the PS3, I really don't think that will ever happen. Square-Enix and tri-Ace have stated that there are no plans for releasing this for the said platform, and based upon previously-developed games, they don't really develop with the idea of multi-platform in mind. Also, the PS3 has extremely few Japanese RPGs compared to the Xbox 360, so it may be very doubtful. The only games that Square-Enix plans on releasing on the PS3 thus far are The Last Remnant and Final Fantasy XIII, and the latter won't be released in the US until 2010 most likely.
Nooo! Darn you, Squeenix! Screwing PS3 holders once again. *weeps*
Nonetheless, I really hope that Atlus can fix that problem for the PS3. :<
But, yeah. I've seen the graphics for The Last Hope. I don't know why, I still kind of prefer SOTET. I guess it's because I love Sophia's artwork so much. xD That, and the cast is made of win(imo). I guess I should just wait for what The Last Hope can pull up. :) Other then that, I'll just go save some of the recent artwork.
Still sucks, though.
forget the artwork, the character models, while detailed enough, sucked(Fayt looked a gay toothbrush). The characters were hard to love, and thats a problem thats been around since the alittle after tales of symphona. Im glad they tried to change that up a bit the new one.

A new trailer for Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I love it; it's really got me pumped up for its release!
Oh, one more thing I'd like to say that I really like about The Last Hope, and that's that the camera is now set near the ground surface, so you can see a lot more. It wasn't like that in Till the End of Time, and that always bothered me.

You mean the over-the-shoulder camera angle?
Edit:
Er, well... sort of. xD The camera on SOTET does follow from behind, so over the shoulder is the only way I can describe it. Although, you do get used to after a while, even if some much rather prefer bird's eye view.
XIII is sort of turn based, it just allows you to chose 3 attacks at once, to chain together combos.
eh its just a modified Tales system to me. I know its dumb, but i just love turn based and always will prefer it even though its a dying breed. after playing crono trigger DS for the past few weeks everywhere i go, i want to play every turned based rpg i can get my hands on even more then before.

Okay, I need a little help. I'm stuck at the boss on En II, and I don't know how to hurt him. I know when to hit him (when all of his annoying little fucks are around him and he's glowing), but I don't know how or where. I've tried most everything I can think of (magic, items, chain combo's, Rush combo's, yelling, etc.), but I've only done damage above 200 with luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hahah, this is where you are wrong. Tales is acctually a modified version of star oceans battle system. After the first star ocean the entire team left to design tales and such on there own. So you could say, star ocean, the original, aka the first hope now in america, is the prequel to the tales series.
Though, I love the tales series just as much.... Symphonia being my fav... anyway.... yeah
