I have abandoned the two piece all together and I'm getting way better results... the shotgun seems to do way better at midrange than at shortrange...
I have also noticed that if you fire aiming it, you get a much tighter spread than as you would when blindfiring... which is kinda wierd if you ask me.
Try it out, take some distance from the wall, shoot blind...then aim and hit your same spot again...you'll see that the aimed spread fits perfectly inside the blindfire spread. And to pop a head you have to have all four middle bullets hit the guy square in the head... all 4 have to be in his chest for the gib... shoulder does not count. Even if they aren't at close range shooting em with the shotty helps set up that delicious gib that we all so love all too much.
This is the kind of coding that makes me want to

.
It makes absolutely zero sense in any kind of way... other than it is some kind of f'ed up hacked "fix" only EPIC would consider implementing.
I've also found that the hardest thing about Gears 2 is figuring out the games rules...which is only picked up by spending countless hours playing. Since I've figured this out about the shotgun I've finally erased my negative K/D ratio with this weapon. Now everyone in my teams wants me with my shotty and nothing else...cause I can save their ass'es in a close encounter 7 times out of 10... which is pretty good odds in my book. What we do is they grab a power weapon and I cover em w/ my shotty. We've been kickin some major ass over the weekend.
