So it looks like there is a new map pack available today for gears of war 2. If you ask me this is pretty close to launch day which gives me a feeling that epic left these maps out just to release them as a map pack and make extra money. I am losing more and more respect for epic as time goes on. Either way these are the new maps...
• Flood is a very tight map that's made extra snug when the environmental hazard of Imulsion begins creeping up around the edges. As the playing field closes in, the firefight will intensify as combat is forced to the center of the map. Teams skilled at flanking their opponents will have a powerful edge.
• Gold Rush takes place in an old Imulsion refinery that now serves as a hotly contested battleground. Players must survive heavy crossfire as they infiltrate the factory and navigate multiple tiers. Breakable glass allows for a clean shot at those who make a dash for the Longshot rifle while bolder players make their run for the heavy weapon. In the right hands, the Mortar can be devastating on this map, so keep those smoke grenades armed as the concussive effect comes in very handy.
• Fuel Station is situated in a desolate area marked by an abandoned fossil fuel station. The team that secures and controls the station is likely to be the side that wins the match. An especially strategic location on this map is the rooftop, as there are only two points of entry – the main elevator and a staircase on the back side of the building. Heavy weaponry is situated right in front, which presents a high risk to reward ratio in this level. Lugging the Mulcher around, deploying it and revving it up can keep an entire team at bay, and unleashing hell from the rooftops is always an excellent tactic.
Any word on how worthwhile these new maps are? I want to know, so I can spend any Marketplace points that I might get as a gift tomorrow on other great things (aside from the obvious RB songs that I plan to download) on Xbox Live.
I'd have to go out and get more Marketplace points if I decide to pickup these new maps for Gears 2... I "accidentally" spent all 3200 points that I got for Christmas on song downloads for Rock Band 2.
I'm having fun playing a full team with four other people I work with talking crap all day long and none of us have the map pack. If some people I play with from here get it along with my co-workers, I'll get in immediately as well. Until then, I have 300 MPs still just sitting around left over from when I got the CoD4 map pack when it first came out.
Mob, Go Pre, Creep and myself should all get it...
Perhaps this weekend I'll pickup some Marketplace points... but until then, I am too friggin' broke to pick some up before that.
I just hope that BAMF is on board to get the maps, as well... it'll probably give me more incentive to play Gears 2 again... seeing as how I'm close to finishing my progress in Fallout 3.
I read that there is suppose to be a huge patch coming out for gears this month that is suppose to fix a lot of the problems and add some more achievements. If the patch actually fixes what it is suppose to and the actually make gears fun again count me in, I will for sure get the map pack.

Gears 2 is fun but you just have to watch out for the glitchers and the occasional lag room.
