I got my Special Edition copy at midnight. The first midnight release I've ever attended. Pretty funny. One kid couldn't get a Special Edition and swapped someone else a regular copy and $30 bucks for a SE.
I played till 4:00 am and I have to say this game lives up to my expectations. Hype had no effect on me this time. Playing the SP is like watching a sequel to a movie that's better than the orignal but has everything that made the first one great. I ended up getting far into the 2nd Act. Cut scenes are incredible.
I haven't had a chance to touch the MP yet . I think I'm going to beat it on Hardcore first.
The Story & Dramatics might of been a tad lower then the first.. But its barely noticeable.
Never played the first one online, but the story and the game play had me sold on the second one.
Probably be picking it up next weekend when all the preorders are taken care of. Just picked up $45 from an ebay sale and I've got about $9 on my Edge Card.
My cousin and I played Horde until 3-4 am Saturday. It's a pretty fun game. I say pretty fun because it's the first time ever for me playing any Gears game. The controls are something I need to get used to I guess. I'll be getting this when I get my 360 in December.
The guy in my local GAME said that the multiplayer has been broken. He compared it to when they added shields in counterstrike. And the smoke grenades knock you over? I haven't played it yet so I have no idea...
But I've heard nothing but good things about the SP.
I am only on act 3 of the story but I think so far the sp is a lot better then the first one. It just feels so much more epic, and the environments are a lot cooler than anything in the first one. As for the multiplayer it takes getting use to but I think it plays a lot better then the first one, it feels a lot more realistic. I like how the smoke grenades can knock you down because in the first one the smoke grenades were useless now everyone uses them. I also like how you can stick grenades to the wall like a mine; this is a really useful trick. My only major complaint with the game is Dom, he was my favorite in the first one but in this one they decided to give him some weird Hispanic accent that he never had in the first one. He doesn’t always have it; it is off and on very inconsistent, either give him an accent or don't. Either way this is a great game and I see my self playing it for a while.
I love the new Gears game... more companies need to borrow Epic's formula for success. And I absolutely like the fact that you can click that "what's up?" option in the game's main menu to see what the people on your friend's list are currently doing online. The war journal is a welcome addition, as well.
