I downloaded Doom from Xbox live recently though... it's become much easier now with the pad, Doom was never really designed to allow you to circle round anyone, but it's such a common tactic now that anyone can do it standing on their head. I remember fearing for my life when facing that Cyberdemon - he used to take me forever to kill, but I pissed all over him on the 360 version. It felt weird.
Is that why you hate Gears though, because you have to change the way you play? I'm very much like you, an old-school shooter boy who would rather just charge in and blow some limbs off instead of pissing around and working out a plan, but those games are becoming less and less common, and if you try to do that these days you will just get your *** handed to you. Times have changed my friend, we must change with them.
That, or we play Serious Sam.
EDIT: Actually, speaking of Serious Sam, is he dead now? Because I would love nothing more than a new Sam game with some mental multiplayer modes for the newer consoles. Man, that would make me so happy. |
No, I hate Gears because the story didn't give me any reason to care and save the earth from these hordes of enemies.
I hate Gears because the character is slow, as I said before a brick wall. I mean come on even in Halo you can still kind of just run there and charge and you won't get your behind handed back to you.
I don't like working with slow characters. I played Gears and he moved slow I just wonder if there was every a time were I didn't just barely make it to safety.
I hope F.E.A.R. Project Origin stays the same as Extraction Point though. If not I'll cry. Already upset about the main character changing.
Anyway all I am saying is I like good gameplay and a good story.
For me Gears had neither.
