Ever since the "new" Call of Duty game has been released, I hardly ever see anyone on my friend list playing Gears 2 anymore... and playing Horde (on hardcore difficulty) is totally tough, when you're all alone.
I finished Gears 2 today. I have to say, although it was by no means bad, overall I think I preferred Gears 1. There were a lot more driving parts or cannon parts or flying bits in this game that drive me a bit crazy. I suppose it's quite narrow-minded in a sense, but to me, Gears is a fantastic shooter, but when it tries to do other things it's not so good. When I reach one of these extra segments I find myself just wishing it was over and wanting to shoot stuff again. Gears 1 was more of a pure shooter and just managed to engage me a bit more.
[minor spoiler]
Also, the final boss was downright disappointing. RAAM was an absolute monster, so when the mutant Brumak thing started mutating I got myself prepared for all kinds of pain, and then it was kind of "Oh. Is that it?" It looked like a fantastic monster and I thought it would be a great fight, and then, nothing. It's like they listened to everyone moan about how mental RAAM was and so toned down the final encounter. But they toned him down way too much. Hopefully Gears 3 will get the balance right.
[/spoiler]
Still, that said, I really liked Gears 2, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone.

lol. I watched the ending on the internet before playing the game, lol. I did say it was a pretty massive disappointment. At least I won't feel disappointed when I play the game. I can just laugh at it. :p
I am going to try to get Gears 2 as my next Gamefly game. I missed the chance right when it came out, and if you don't get new games then, it is hard to get for a month or so.

Looks like we have to wait at least another couple years to kill the Locust Queen. Im gonna give it to her good when the opportunity arises
Furthest I have gotten on horde was level 40, which happened last night... took us just under 2 hours, and we got there pretty easily, thanks in part to playing it on the Security map, where you and your team can pretty much settle down in that secured area of the map that's surrounded by lasers, and pick off all incoming locusts.
The only downside is the fact that Boomers can get really good at "sniping" their rockets into that area you and your team are in. That's pretty much what did the group in last night... that, and the fact that there were only 3 of us left playing by the time that last locust wave bum rushed us.
Creep, if you wanna play tonight I'm always down for some horde mode. The farthest I've made it is level 29 and that was last night with Irish. Anyways, I'll be on around 8 or 8:30 after work, so if you wanna add me and play I'll be more than game.
I am going to be running some horde tonight for anyone who wants to join me. I really want to make it level 50 and I am tired getting paired up with little kids who are yelling at their mom. Anyone who is interested in getting some horde going tonight ill be on after work around 6:30.
Now that my internetz is back up and running (after two days), I'm down to play some horde tonight, possibly... if I can get online for an extended period of time, I'll send out room invites to people that are interested in playing.
I really want to get through all 50 levels... I was so pissed after we got so close to conquering it the other night!!
I'm interested in playing Horde tonight and actually get passed 30. I can play whenever really. All my friends are busy today so I don't have anything to do or anyone to hang out with.

Sounds good... I'll hit you up with an invite or something, if I see you online.
