So we all know that skate.'s control scheme and huge free-roam map has taught us to enjoi skateboarding games in a whole new way, and im fairly sure that most of us were willing to learn. But personally, i like snowboarding more than skateboarding. And because of this, i would really like to see a snowboarding game modeled after skate.
I was just curious as to what other people's opinions are about this matter. And if anyone agrees with me, perhaps we could discuss how to get the ball rolling. Or maybe theres already one out there in concept or development. Whatever the case, i think it ultimately needs to happen.

I do like the picture, though... where did you get it, Nosegrob?
Now back on topic...
I think it's a good idea, to make a snowboarding game with a similar control scheme as skate's... I thought games like (the original) SSX were tons of fun to play, and made me feel glad to have a PS2 when that system launched.
As far as how to get the ball rolling, I have no idea...
why so pessimistic? i thought SS was a sweet game and i sucked much entertainment from it.
And why do you think that snowboarding environments would be so limited? instead of a large city to skate in, you could have a large mountain or set of peaks that you could board down. you could also somehow integrate urban snowboarding into it to expand the world even further, perhaps by allowing the player to remove their snowboard.
i think that there are plenty of clever ways to make it work, so i think that we should stay hopeful and persistent, and try to look at the glass as half full.

i dont know where you got rocket power, especially since that show was mainly about skating, or maybe surfing. i would just like a snowboarding game that is as largely freeroam as skate. The control scheme doesnt necessarily need to be the same, but just something clever like that. Im just saying that skate is a brilliant model to base off of. How much you change depends on how clever you think you can be.
***I also meant to title the thread "skate concept for snowboarding" referring more the the affect of the free roam capabilities.

i think that a big free roam snowboarding game would be pretty cool. be able to go anywhere you want. and just take lifts back up when your at the bottom. but i dont think the same control scheme would really work. in skate the main thing was flip tricks with the joysticks and in snowboarding you dont do anything like that.
yea pretty much scratch the control scheme. My main focus is the free roam. I just really want a game that will give me the best snowboard fix for when im not in the mountains. so anyone have any friends of friends who know people in the video game business?

i think being able to create your own park would be pretty sick, with the jumps, rails boxes and everything.... like the stuff you see in every transworld snowboarding mag///

That's kinda stupid because it's not like you can just skate through a town like you can on a skateboard. Isn't snowboarding all about mountains and hills? You can't just free roam on a snowboard, you have to take it off and things ya know?
I think using the control scheme for snowboarding could be interesting. It would sure beat every snowboarding game out there, where the controls are simple and boring.
Shaun white is coming out pretty soon, that looks sweet. I was a massive fan of SSX 3 (BIG?). Amped 3 was alright, i liked the sledding and the snowmobiles on that. Fingers crossed shaun white will be the answer to your question.
i havent been able to play this as much as i want with finals being so close, but from what i have played its seems like its kinda hard to judge how fast yer going, the soundtrack is pretty good, i dunno how does everyone else feel about it?

i guess you dont board to much or you aint that good if you dont roam around the mountain and cruise in and out of the trees and off the beaten path...have fun dodging peeps on groomed runs
