Read an interesting article on this game in the new issue of OXM... looks a bit like the Slugfest games in appearance, but Blue Castle General Manager (and former Triple Play developer) Dan Brady bluntly said, "Slugfest was a piece of crap".
In the career mode, you create your own rookie and take him through spring training, and work on his stats by playing batting, running, and fielding mini-games. When he makes his regular season debut, you'll have objectives to complete - like hitting a homer with your rookie, getting an RBI, etc. etc.
Hitting these goals earns you more points to spend on upgrading your rookie's attributes, with the ultimate long-term goal of winning the World Series and becoming the hero.
I thought one of the included screenshots looked good... the one where it looks like they're playing a game of baseball in the middle of Times Square in New York City.
Looks like it might be worth checking out when it's released... and that should be sometime around the end of June.

I just got the new issue of OXM and I can't find it anywhere in my castle.
From what I've seen The Bigs looks like it has The Goods. I'm wondering if Barry Bonds head will take up the entire TV Screen.
I got this game two days ago due to some great customer service at Gamestop. The manager was working and I walked in with my used Marvel: Ultimate Alliance game that I bought. Since they guarantee used games and mine got stuck every time I wanted to do the Atlantis mission, I thought I'd go get another copy. They didn't have any, so he adds $20 to what I actually bought it for and gives me my money back. I walked out with a brand new copy of The Bigs without opening my wallet, can't beat that.
I'm getting more and more turned on by this game. The create a player mode is great and I actually enjoy doing the mini-games to help your player get better. It's not that hard to get Xbox Achievement points from it, with accomplishments like running into the catcher and striking 3 straight guys out. I'm impressed 9/10.

Is MLB 2k8 good? I was wondering because I was looking at it but I'm having trouble just buying it.
I actually had a lot of fun with The Bigs. I like the arcade style to it, based off of the old Slugfest games that I always enjoyed. I'm hoping they make another one someday with updated rosters, new features, etc.

No way... 2K7 was better than 2K8. I think they tried cramming too many new control schemes into the new game, and almost everything else about it suffered because of it. The game was practically unplayable online, the graphics took a step back into last generation's look, and the rosters were hardly accurate out of the box.
Personally, I would go with last year's baseball game and hope that there's a fairly recent roster update for the old version.
Luckily, I have a PS3, so I went out and got The Show 2008 to satisfy my baseball itch... and I was happy to see that it was a much improved game from last year's effort. Hands down.

That's what I've heard about 2k8. I might end up downloading the demo to try it out. I have a huge baseball itch right now.....

game seemed fine to me.. i set the controls back to classic i dont pay attention to the confusin stuff they threw in there.. but i traded it in and now i might buy it again ahaha
I love The Bigs! Its a super fun arcade baseball game. Its a good game for baseball fans and non-baseball fans. Homerun pinball is pretty fun too but they should have included more "fields". I downloaded the demo for MLB 2k8 and didn't care much for it. The fielding sucked and the camera. I like their pitching idea but it seemed a little too hard. It might work if I had some more practice. There really isn't another baseball sim out there for the 360 so if you need one MLB 2k8 should do the job. But I prefer The Bigs because the gameplay is more fun.
