Very true... you can purchase Xbox Live "kits" from pretty much any electronics retailer... same goes for the Xbox Live Marketplace points.
No need for a credit card.

They allow you to purchase lots of things from their online service. Things such as: "background" themes, Xbox Live Arcade games, gamertag pics, videos, etc. etc.
You'll find out soon enough. Congrats!

I think there are some themes & gamertags (avatars) that you can "unlock" though the OXM monthly demo... I've done this already. So some I have purchased, some I have unlocked.
(I am particularly fond of the "Condemned" theme that I got from one of their demo discs.)
But when you first sign up on XBL (Xbox Live) - there are many, many, many free ones (gamertags) to choose from.

Ok, yeah, xbox 360 is amazing. If I may recommend a game, I recommend Call of Duty 2. My friend has it, and it's an amazing game. Not to mention they also just released an extra map pack for it, containing 4 new maps. Should be sweet, I'm going over his house tonight to check them out.
Be on the lookout for A2K Ghost, which is my friend's gamertag. He's pretty good.
Just don't forget all of us here with our lowly Playstations and Socom 3 :P.

Cool. GRAW is a pretty good game as well. I still prefer playing Call of Duty 2 when I'm at my friend's house though.
