Last Bastion II: First Map Pack 8 vs 8
Tournament Announcement: Last Bastion II: SOCOM 3 8 vs 8 tournament

As the founder of Special Operations Training Group Inc., it is my pleasure to announce an epic eight ( vs. eight ( tournament for SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs. A sequel to a previous four (4) vs. four (4) tournament, this tournament will be played exclusively on Last Bastion, a SOCOM II map resurrected by SONY in the first of several map packs to be offered for SOCOM 3.

This tournament is sponsored by US Cavalry and SOTG (www.sotg.us). The first 128 10-man teams that sign up for this event will receive event t-shirts, courtesy of US Cavalry, and the top team will receive $500 in gift certificates split evenly amongst the team’s players. This tournament is FREE to sign up, and the top four teams’ players will receive a $6 credit to each of their members to pay for the next map pack released by SONY. This is not all of the prizes that will be given away… as the start date closes near, more prizes will be announced by SOTG’s many sponsors, which include SONY, Game Stop, GameFly, Time Warner Cable, Verizon, Comcast, and COMPUSA!!

All participants in this tournament must be over the age of 18. If you or your team members are NOT above the age of 18, SOTG will need to receive a mailed copy of our Parental Consent Form for all participants below the age of 18. This form can be downloaded at http://www.sotg.us/consentform.doc

Without this form, SOTG is not able to provide even an event t-shirt to the underage participant. At the bottom of the form is the mailing address where the form must be submitted, and if this form is not submitted by every underage member of your team by the conclusion of the tournament, your ENTIRE TEAM will be forfeited.

The start date of this tournament is yet to be announced, but will start approximately 30 days after the first map pack is made available to the public, to limit the amount of practice any team has on the tournament map. Depending on the number of teams admitted, the tournament could last several months, and the first teams to sign up will be granted byes if any are needed to facilitate the single-elimination structure.

BACKGROUND:
Just before the release of SOCOM 3, we at SOTG made what we feel was a very successful attempt to advertise the release of three additional maps for SOCOM II: Last Bastion, Liberation and Afterhours. To play on these new maps, the purchase of an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) as necessary by all participants. Fortunately, this year, all that is necessary for participation is ownership of an external USB memory device. (See SOCOM 3 FAQ in the Online Community area for further information on how to obtain the map packs). Even though the trend around the online community was not to bother purchasing this expensive piece of hardware ($100) just to play these three maps, I was able to entice an extremely large crowd of SOCOM players to participate in tournament that played EXLUSIVELY on the Hard Drive Map, "Last Bastion."

Though there weren't a lot of people able to play in the tournament because they may not have had the necessary hardware, we gathered 64 teams of four players (256 players) to compete for four copies of SOCOM 3 that I purchased out of pocket, as well as some SOCOM Boonie Hats generously provided by SONY Marketing. The first place team, “MY QUADS,” took the free video games in the first week of release, and even the second place team, [LTU] ARAS were given a 50% discount on their SOCOM 3 titles.

Needless to say, the event went off without a hitch, and it was an extremely popular event in the SOCOM Community. We at SOTG are even more prepared this year to accommodate more than 128 teams in an eight vs. eight breach championship.

To sign up for this tournament, simply visit http://www.sotg.us/tournament/index.php?tourney[id]=11&action=signup

There is no limit to the teams allowed into this tournament, but the first 128 teams of 10 (8 standard players and 2 backups) will be given event t-shirts.

Specific rules and guidelines of this tournament will be announced at the tournament site upon release of the map pack, in two locations:

1. The tournament home, at http://www.sotg.us/tournament/index.php?tourney[id]=11&action=details

2. The SOTG Forums, where the tournament will be conducted, at
http://www.sotg.us/Forum/index.php?board=211.0

All participants are welcome to register at SOTG’s home forums, at www.sotg.us/Forum to discuss the upcoming tournaments, prior to and during the tournament.

MODERATORS are still needed for this tournament, and other tournaments sponsored by SOTG. To apply as a moderator of this tournament or any other tournaments hosted by SOTG, please send an email to officers@sotg.us

I will see you at the start of the tournament, and good luck to all the participants.

Question
I asked this in your other thread but I got no answer.

Do all members of a team have to be from the same clan, or is it like the 1st tourny where they don't?

No. Your team can be made up of players from any clan.

Perhaps I can get you to ref my games again for this one?

I wish these map packs would come out so that we can get this started

I didn't read Marine's post but I know that the first 1,268 people that sign up will recieve a free T-Shirt and it is tight.

You can use that one, or you can use these. This is our first idea for the t-shirts. Just came in from US Cavalry. If we go with this shirt design, EVERY SINGLE PLAYER will get one.

(The SOTG logo on the top right will go on the left breast (front) of the shirt. The other design will go on the back)

So if you are under 18 and 15 then you can't play. It says something about waiver and 15.

The rule here is... if your under 18 you will need a waiver sent in by your parents. But this is only a option for minors above the age of 15. So in lamest terms, yes if your under 15 you CANNOT take part in this tournament.
