1. Linksys' WRT54G Router Mic Fix (Credit: c0mmand3r)
Before we begin steps!
Step1: Click on the link below. This will bring you to the Linksys page for downloading new Firmware for the "WRT54G Version 5" router. If you do not have this router do NOT download the firmware. It will either not work or could screw up your router if you do not own the WRT54G. Click on the firmware link then click download firmware and save the file to your desktop for easy access. Unzip the file then let it sit there.
FIRMWARE LINK
Step2: Open your internet explorer or web browser. Type
http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your web browser. A window will appear asking for your user name and password. If you have not configured your router or are not familiar with this router control panel, simply type in "admin" for your password and press enter. Go to the Administration tab at the top of the router control panel. Once under Administration go to the Firmware Upgrade sub-section. Click browse and find the unzipped folder you downloaded to your desktop. Use the file named "WRT54Gv5_fw_v1.00.4_us_code.bin" within this folder and select it. Click upgrade and let your router sit (do not touch anything) and complete it's upgrade. Once the upgrade is completed scroll to the bottom of the router control panel and click Save Settings. Confirm your save then exit the router control panel.
Step3: Now reset your router by pressing the orange button on the back of your router labeled "reset." After the router reset you will need to completely shutdown your modem (either unplug it or turn power to off). You should also unplug the power plug to the router to turn that off aswell. After 30 seconds reconnect the router power plug and wait 5 seconds for it to boot back up. Then reconnect or turn on your modem and wait for that to completely boot back up to online mode. Congratulations you are ready to begin the steps to get your mic working perfectly on Socom3!
If you did not get your internet connection back for your computer after the above steps you need to type this into your browser:
www.linksys.com/connect <-- that will reconfigure and connect your router by itself pretty much. You shouldn't have to access it though, if you followed my steps.
Actual Mic fix step by step!
Step1: Press the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Go to "Run" & type in cmd in the blank field then press enter. A black window will pop up. Do not touch anything. Simply type ipconfig/all and press the enter key. A list will appear. In the lower half of the window you should see your IP address among other things. Remember the last two segments of your IP address. For this step by step we will refer to them as ".x.x" at the end of the IP address. The IP address should read 192.168.x.x in this window. Once you have those digits close the cmd prompt window.
Step2: Open your internet explorer or web browser. Type
http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your web browser. A window will appear asking for your user name and password. If you have not configured your router or are not familiar with this router control panel, simply type in "admin" for your password and press enter.
Step3: As soon as the router control panel opens you will be under Setup > Basic Setup. Scroll down and you will see DCHP Server with two options, enable and disable, to the right of it. Check off enable and enter the last segment of your IP address from the command promt in the blank field.
Step4: At the top you will see different tabs to access. Click on the Applications & Gaming tab now. You are automatically sent to Port Range Fowarding. Stay in this section of the Applications & Gaming tab. There are a total of 10 lines here you should see. You need to fill out the following information for the first 5 lines. Read carefully.
ORDER - Line#: Application | Start | End | Protocol | IP
Line1: S3 | 10060 | 10070 | TCP | Fill in Last segment of your IP address
Line2: s3 | 80 | 80 | TCP | Fill in Last segment of your IP address
Line3: Socom3 | 7000 | 8000 | UDP | Fill in Last segment of your IP address
Line4: SOCOM3 | 10070 | 10070 | UDP | Fill in Last segment of your IP address
Line5: Socom 3 | 50000 | 50000 | UDP | Fill in Last segment of your IP address
Once the five lines are filled out check off enable next to each one. Afterwards, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Save Settings, then confirm your save.
Step5: Still under the Applications & Gaming tab, go now to the DMZ sub-section. Check off enable. Now, in the blank field enter the last segment of your IP address from the command promt yet again. Once you complete this step, scroll to the very bottom of your router control panel and select Save Settings. It asks you again if you want to, confirm to save the settings.
Step6: Boot up your PS2 and login to Socom3 via the Main Menu (X) from the start up menu. When you come to the Choose Network Configuration screen select Edit Configuration. This will bring you to the Network Configuration Menu for Socom3. Select Add Configuration. Go through the steps until you come to the IP address screen. Select Manual. Go to the next screen and you will see the following lines below. Fill in the information listed then continue to the next screen.
IP - 192.168.x.x (Enter your IP address you found in the Command Prompt for this)
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Router - 192.168.1.1
Step7:On the screen after the above one you will see a screen requesting your Primary and Secondary DNS numbers. For this step you will need to open your Router Control Panel (type
http://192.168.1.1 into your browser). Go to the Status tab of the router control panel. You will be automatically put into the Router sub-section for this tab. Here you will find near the bottom DNS 1, DNS 2, and DNS 3. For the primary DNS number type in DNS 1's corresponding number. For the secondary DNS number type in DNS 2's corresponding number. Continue through the setup until you come to the connection test screen. If all goes well you will pass the test. If not, shutdown your modem and router for 30 seconds then turn on the router then the modem and wait for them both to come up to online/functioning modes. Try the connection test again. Name the configuration whatever you like then exist the Network Configuration Menu.
Step8: Socom3 will load up and bring you right back to the Choose Network Configuration screen. Select your newly created configuration and login. You should not get any error messages. Create a room and have a friend join, or simply join a random room, to test whether or not your mic has been fixed.
Congratulations you now have a working Mic for Socom3 without any sacrafice of your internet access for your computer

2. NETGEAR Router Mic Fix (credit: Incision)
Ok, I bought another router for my bedroom that is attached to my other router downstairs. I set it all up and found that the router did not let me use the mic. At first I was like ****, but I read up a little and tried something since I could not find my PS2s IP since I only have one cord to share with my PS2 and PC at the moment. So what I did was:
1. Go into Socom 3 and at the network menu before you sign on you can edit your connection. Click edit connection and go through until you see the IP settings and It will say Auto or Manual.
2. Hit manual and it will show IP, Subnet, and Router. Fill in like this:
IP -
192.168.1.40 (does not have to be 40 but I suggest it)
Subnet -
255.255.255.0
Router -
192.168.1.1
Note: If you are not useing a Netgear router you may need the IPs to be
192.168.0.1
3. Next you will see DNS Primary and Secondary. For Primary just put your Router IP from the previous step. And leave Secondary blank.
4. It will then have you test it and if It doesnt work redo the previous steps. If the test works then you are done with the PS2 settings.
5. Now open Internet Explorer on your Computer and type it
192.168.1.1 (If you have a non-Netgear router it may be
192.168.0.1) and on the side you will have Wan Setup or something similar. Click it.
6. Now in Wan Setup you will have a section for DMZ and it will not be checked and there will be four boxs next to it. [192] [169] [1] [_]. Check the box on the left side. Then the first three boxes will be grayed out and you can't edit them. Then in the final box put 40. The 40 is from the IP setting you set to your PS2 in step. Remeber if you did not use 40, then use the number you did use.
7. Apply those settings and then you are done. You should be able to use your mic online. If it does not work you either did a step wrong or your router is not the problem.
I hope this helped you all! Good luck!

3. A Second Netgear Router Mic Fix (Credit: PONCHO9)
Iv'e been reading alot of posts about people with problems with their mics that are using netgear routers. I figured out what to do.
1. Do EVERYTHING that this guy said in the first post.
http://www.socom3.com/socom3/viewtop...hlight=routers
2. Go to your netgear router (usually routerlogin.net)
3. Go to port forwarding
4. Add custom service and fill in the information as shown.
service name- SOCOM3
serice type- TCP/UDP
starting port- 1
ending port- 65534 (or whatever your last port is)
server IP- 192.168.1.40
5. Apply
6. Restart Network
unplug DSL modem
unplug router
shutdown computer
plug in modem
wait 2 minutes
plugin router
wait 1 minute
turn on computer/PS2
Even though you are opening up all of the ports if you have a software firewall (Norton, etc.) you will still be protected.(Routers will have a harware firewall) If you do not have any other firewall, I do not sugest you do this unless you are really desperate and want to use your mic.
As long as you do everything stated in the link and then follow the instructions you should be able to use your mic online.

Step 2 Open your web browser and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). Enter username (admin) and your password (blank by default).
Step 3 Click on the Advanced tab and then click on Firewall on the left side.
Step 4 Create a new entry:

Enter a name (socom2)
Next to Action, click Allow
Next to Source, select WAN from the drop-down box and enter * in the first box. Leave the second box empty.

5. Online Ports/Router Setup Information (Credit: Drako_MDS)
I don't play SOCOM 3 but I do setup routers. I just finished setting up a router for my next door neighbor and had to open ports for this game's MIC to work. When looking for the correct Ports for this game I noticed how much of a pain it was so I called Tech Support. These are the CORRECT ports you'll need for the game to run properly.
Ports Used by SOCOM 3: (They are all Confirmed)
TCP 10070 - 10080
TCP 80
UDP 6000 - 7000
UDP 10070
UDP 50000
USE PORT FOWARDING ONLY (Not Trigger Port)
Example of a Router Format:
Software Name/Starting Port - Ending Port/ Port Type/IP Adress
Use Port Fowarding for SOCOM 3:
SOCOM3/10070 - 10080/TCP/IP Adress
SOCOM3/80 -80/TCP/IP Adress
SOCOM3/6000 - 7000/UDP/Ip Adress
SOCOM3/10070 - 10070/UDP/IP Adress
SOCOM3/50000 - 50000/UDP/IP Adress
Here's a Screenshot of above example:
http://www.mdxops.com/modules/copper...utersetup2.jpg
To Find out what IP you Router has given the game just run Connection Test on Game Config and look at the results. Use that IP if needed to open the ports.
HOPE THIS THREAD HELPS YOU GUYS... Good Luck

6. Di-604 Router Fix (Credit: Drako_MDS)
I was PMed on how to setup Di-604 so I figured I should share my reply with the rest of you:
D-Link
On your Di-604 it's actually quite easy.
1. Go into your routers Menu.
2. Hit the Advance Tab on the top of screen.
3. Now go to the Application Tab on the left of screen.
4. You'll have to do 2 setups to get all the ports so fill in the following Blanks:
Name: SOCOM3 TCP
Public Port: 10070-10080,80
Public Type: TCP
Name: SOCOM3 UDP
Public Port: 6000-7000,10070,50000
Public Type: UDP
This should do it... now go out there and have some fun.

7. Setup for DMZ on most Linksys Routers (Credit: Drako_MDS)
This is another PM I replyed to today and I decided to share with the rest of you.
How to setup DMZ on most Linksys Routers for SOCOM.
Like I Mention before, for some damn reason the DMZ option on these routers works more like a Static IP.
1. Make sure you do all your Port Fowarding on the Application and Gaming TAB. Use the original example to guide you in filling out the blanks. Remember only use Port Fowarding Option Only.
2. As an IP address put whatever last digits you want to use.
3. Now goto the DMZ section of Application and Gaming, Check the Enable DMZ and also add the same last digits to the IP you just added to the Port Fowarding section.
4. Now goto the Status section of your router and look at the Primary and Secondary DNS. Write those down in a paper. Also write down the IP you chose in the DMZ/Port Fowarding section. (These two should be the same IP) Don't worry if your router only shows one DNS, it's OK you only really need one. You'll also need t make a note of the Subnet Mask. It's the 255.255.255.0 or whatever.
5. Launch the game and goto the connection settings. When asked about an IP chose Manual and fill in the blanks with the info from #4. Save the settings in game and lauch it.
That's it, you're done. Have fun!
Man, Sony should Pay me for all this Tech Support...LOL

To think, I don't even play this damn game.

8. Static IP Information (Credit: -pride)
I figured the DMZ wasn't working for the wireless router, so I started investigating how to start up Static IP's. This is what I came up with:
Click on the Start menu, and then click on the Run option.
When the “Run” window opens, input control netcpl.cpl into the “Open” field, then click on the OK button.
When the “Network” window opens, locate the TCP/IP for the Wireless or Ethernet adapter in the PC, and click on it. Once it’s highlighted, click on the Properties button.
Change option from Obtain Automatically to Specify and input:
IP: 192.168.1.20 (If there are multiple computers being setup with static IP's, then the next computer would be .25, and next would be .30, etc)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Firstly I would have to change the DHCP to Static IP in the Router settings. Then save the changes then go to the PC's.
Since I have 2 Windows Machines, i'd have to go to each one of their Network windows and make each one 192.168.1.20 and 192.168.1.25
Now for the PS2, correct me if i'm wrong, but i'd go to the Edit Network Config and change my IP (old DMZ Host IP) to say 192.168.1.30
I have another PS2 which the mic doesn't work, i'll set up another Static IP for it. If i'm missing something, please let me know. I'm going to do some more reading at work, then go home and do it. Thank god for a slow work week, i'd never get any work done :D

Your Router is Discontinued so they don't offer the manual for it anymore. But I checked its predecessor and a few other D-Links and most share the same layout on the User Interface. If you go to page 2 of this thread I've already explained how to setup a D-Link. (They are all similar) Just incase, I'll further explain how to access your router through your Web Browser. Make sure the computer you're using is connected to your router before starting.
This Should Covers Most D-Link.
Open the web browser
Type in the IP Address of the Router (
http://192.168.0.1)
Type admin in the User Name field
Leave the Password blank
Click OK
You should now be in the Routers User Interface.
1. Hit the Advance Tab on the top of screen.
2. Now go to the Application Tab on the left of screen.
3. Make sure you put a check on the Enable Box.
4. You'll have to do 2 setups to get all the ports so fill in the following Blanks:
Name: SOCOM3 TCP
Public Port: 10070-10080, 80
Public Type: TCP
Name: SOCOM3 UDP
Public Port: 6000-7000, 10070, 50000
Public Type: UDP
Once you've filled in the information make sure you click on Apply.
This should do it... now go out there and have some fun.
